Question Is price fixing illegal?

I'm pretty sure it is but one of my suppliers has informed me if I don't stop selling a certain product at what they consider to be "too cheap" then they will cut my supply.
Normally this wouldn't bother me and I'd tell them to **** off but they are the sole supplier so that might not be a good move.

Do I have to take it and up the price?

I had a similar problem about a year ago.
Another Subaru supplier ??? complained to our main suppliers that my prices where lower than the RRP.
Got a call from them and told to toe the line, in a nice way, or offer free P+P.
I said I would NOT start price fixing.

I still get parts from them, but I now also have an alternative source outside the UK that I can also use in an emergency.

If they are your one and only supplier, you may have to "toe that line"

...or get hard evidence they're doing it and hold it over them. Don't think it'd be blackmail as you'd be threatening to prevent illegal activity without any gain for yourself.

Cheers David, I knew I'd have to bite the bullet and raise the price. My competitors must've been pissed that I was discounting by £100 on a £400 product!!

Its against EU laws. If you can obtain written evidence that should be enough to stop them cutting off your supply.

They won't put it in writing. I got a phone call along the lines of "put the price up to our RRP or else everytime you order we'll tell you it's out of stock"
So seeing as I can't prove it, I'll just have to tolerate it for the time being.

Send them an email, asking them what pricing you must abide to.

A recorded line is only admissable if the person on the other end of the line is aware the call is being recorded.
