Why Americans are fat..
Hello
For my job, I have started to wander back and forth to America, and I thought I would share with you a "normal" sandwich that I bought for lunch last week. I even bought some crisps as I would do at lunch in England, naively thinking it's "just a sandwich" ...
(sorry for the blurry picture, playing with my Nokia 6320)
Steve.

LOL.
As a Brit who moved to the US about 5 years ago I can vouch for this I've gained weight at the rate of about half a pound a month since moving. I'm assuming it will level out at some point UK sandwiches are sad in my opinion - two little triangles of bread that have had some filling waved over it at some point. No thanks.

Have you noticed how petrol station sandwiches have all the filling pushed into the middle of the slice of bread before it is cut? When its in the packet it looks nice and thickly filled at the front, yet when you take the sandwich out there is no filling at the back!

Hello
Sandwiches from a sandwich shop are not as bad as you describe? I used to get a baguette filled with Tuna or Beef for about £2.50.
And that much meat in a sandwich is not healthy for you.
Steve.

The wife bought a sarnie was from Boots and it had the grand total of 8 small prawns in it lol We took a picture of it and emailed it to them and they offered to replace it! With what I wondered another 8 prawns

Yeah but there has to be a happy medium doesnt there? 8 Prawns in a sandwich is taking the ****, but so is 1/2 a cow between two pieces of bread!
Closest I've been to America is Canada and even then the portions were an eyeopener. Spent a long weekend in Toronto and came back 1/2 a stone heavier
astraboy.

What I don't understand are all these people who say they go to the USA and because of the portion sizes they put on weight. Why? Is their gun culture so prevalent that the supplier of the sandwich threatens to shoot you unless you eat it all?
tiggers.

Not exactly -- although I was quite shocked to find out that the people who work for me carry handguns!

It's beef and cheese, and was actually quite nice once I'd removed half of the meat.

I was on a training course in Houston and the Yanks on the course offered to take us Brits out for a Mexican meal, near the border with Mexico. On the way they stopped at a roadside diner and had ribs, chips and salad. We then continued to the Mexican restaurant, ate a huge meal and returned. On the way back they stopped at a Wendy's for a burger, then at a roadside shack for popcorn! The folks over there are miles bigger than us........at the moment!!!

Whenever I'm over I head for the nearest Claimjumpers, buy a meal for next to nothing, get a doggy bag/suitcase and eat what's left for the week.
