I still can't beleive it
I phoned up Tesco to see why my insurance renewal hadn't come thru. When they told me it was automatically renewed, i was about to hang up - but thought i'd best just ask how much. After being told I informed them i was cancelling and the lady asked why !!!!!!!!!
Anyways, here's what came thru today (along with another letter cancelling it):
Madness!!

You are right Direct line underwrite Tesco insurance. When they first started they copied DL policies and discounted them to capture market share. Now they've got market share looks like the discounts have gone. Sounds like a good business to me, and if you've got people on direct debit not checking their premiums you can make a fortune.

I was with Tesco, the renewal came up at £540. Went online and the best quote was Tesco @ £320 for the same policy
So I had to cancel my renewal and start a new policy with them.

A few years back we had a chap try to insure a 300zx he'd just purchased. He posted his tale on the forum. IIRC correctly, he was 19, the Zed was modified and kicking out about 400bhp. It was not left in a garage but did have an alarm on it. It was also an import. He had 2 previous bans for speeding and was currently on 6 points. Also speeding.
The highest quote he received was £999,999.00. I'm thinking they didn't really want his business.....

Yep - Tesco quoted me £450 (Per Annum) for my Renewal - ESure got the business at £290. Methinks somebody at Tesco has slipped on the "30% Margin for existing mugs" button again
