Lardy Cake
Does anyone have a recipe or know where to get this from?
My Dad absolutely loves the stuff and asked his cousin to bring some to a wedding that we all attended. Unfortunately his cousin couldn't find anywhere that sells it now.
So I was thinking of maybe making him a lardy cake, but there are various recipes on the net and I'm not sure what exactly went into a true Oxford-style Lardy cake. Apart from the obligatory lard, of course....
Does anyone know how to make these or could possibly get hold of any? Would of course pay costs.
Thanks.

LOL! Anything pre-masticated would be preferable.
Am going to have a go at making the one from the Great British Cookbook and if I get time, to visit the Covered Market in Oxford.
Unless you know of a shop that does Lardy Cake and would be willing to send me some?

I saw a lad get major burns making some of these when I was a baker in a former life.
Short lad, high oven, shallow bread tin. He can't see what loaf is in the tins as they're nearing 'time-up' so reaches up and tilts the tins (3 in frame) back to see the contents. Exit three pounds of molten lard from the tins.
Never forget that
