Default Christmas Music

I know, its generally risible or played way too much, therefore do you have any alternative Christmas albums or any favourites from the usual supects,

I personally save the Stone Roses first album for the month of December, have done for 13 years or so now, just seems applicable, sort of jangly, esoteric and quasi religous (just like Christmas), plus then I dont get sick of it the rest of the year, go on dig it out and give it a play, best served with a large Southern Comfort and lemonade whilst wrapping Christmas presents.

Apart from that,

Fairytale of New York, thel ate Kirsty Macoll and the Pogues
In Dulci Jubilo, Mike Oldfield
The original Band Aid
Last Christmas by Wham, wonderful, memories of Grandstand Astro Wars, Sinclair Spectrums, Level 42 Albums, Roy Castle on telly
and that one about not stopping the Cavalry !

And I hate,

That one about 'Santa Baby', as in pop a Sable under the tree, makes me shudder.

Slade, not even remotely amusing anymore Holder,

Wizzard, see above

And anything else

Totally agree with these choices, also to add Christmas Rapping by The Waitresses.

I wish I could be dead cool and say "Mistress for Christmas" by AC/DC but unfortunately, as much as I like their work, that song is dire..

Personally I hate Christmas themed songs with the possible exception of Queen's "Thank God It's Christmas."

My mum burnt a load of Weird Al versions of popular "party" songs to a CD and played it one year, most of the relatives were too p1ssed to notice.

There's a v-v-version of Blue Chr-chr-christmas by Mel Blanc doing Porky the Pig, hunt it down and download it funny as ****!

Best Xmas song ever would have to be Fairytale, even got it as my rintone (sad!).

plus, I do like Greg Lakes one (peace on earth?) but it's much too short

Glad Jona Lewie and Greg Lake have been mentioned... I do like Elton John 'Step into Christmas' too. The Darkness tune from last year is OK too...

A couple of alternative ones are 'Merry Christmas (I don't wanna fight tonight)' by the Ramones, or 'Xmas Bubblegum Machine' by the Sultans of Ping FC.

Christmas on Death Row Records compilation album is my effort to get christmassy, hate most other christmas tunes as they are played to death everywhere I go, I mean as if i didnt know it was christmas soon.
Bloody decorations etc have been in the shops since halloween!!

Oh the album is realy on for people who like R&B and hip-hop as well.

"Santa Claus you ****" - Kevin Bloody Wilson

Quite often I get a thinking
How as kids we got by
Like christmas time in our house
We couldn't even afford a fire

But we made do in our house
Back then when I was young
Dad used to suck a peppermint
And we'd all sit round his tongue

We couldn't afford no tinsel
On our christmas tree
So we'd just wheel old grandad in
And make the old **** sneeze...atchoo

Wheel him round the other side granny...atchoo

Well things change so bloody fast
I got children now of me own
Now I heard 'em unwrap their presents
Last night when I got home

Santa claus you ****
Where's my ****ing bike
I've unwrapped all this other junk
There's nothing what i like

I've wrote you a letter
And i've come to see you twice
You geriatric ******
Where's my ****ing bike

If i wanted a pair of ****ing shoes
I would've ****ing asked
This cowboy suit and ping-pong set
You can stick right up your ****

You went and mucked my order up
It's enough to make you spew
It's not just me that's pissed off
My sister's cheesed off too

Santa claUs you ****
Where's my ****ing pram
You promised me you ****ing ****
You know who I am

'Cos I'm the little girl
You made sit right on your hand
Never mind your ho ho ho
Where's my ****ing pram

Next time i go to see him
I'm gonna punch him in the guts
Set his ****ing reindeer loose
Kick rudolf in the nuts

Just you wait til next year
'Til we get to that store
A mate of my little sister
'll come stomping through that door

Hey mums and dads just check his breath
And watch his bloodshot eyes
Don't listen to him boys and girls
'Cos he tells ****ing lies

He's a pisstake and a pervert
He's not even ****ing bright
'Cos that ****ing ******
Forgot my ****ing bike

Hey santa claus you ****
Where's my ****ing bike
I've unwrapped all this other junk
There's nothing what I like

I wrote you a ****ing letter
And I came to see you twice
You geriatric ******
Forgot my ****ing bike

Yeah I'm gonna tell my dad on you
****ing punch your head in....****
I saw mummy sucking santa

Second 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses. 'Fairytale of New York' is probably the best Christmas song ever.

Ive been meaning to do a best Christmas song poll but I dont know how.
