My wife bought vidal sassoon ones a couple of months ago.
She and a couple of friends swear by them. Apparently they're better then the GHD ones.
They've got a digital screen on them and go up to about 280 degrees apparently. Boots had them for about £66.00 then, no idea what they'd be now.
Best of luck mate.
Oh and Merry Christmas!!

depends on hair length and thickness
I have short ish hair and i use full size ones... but ive used the smaller ones too- not much difference apart from the physical bulkiness.
But using the smaller ones on quite long hair would be a ball ache and take longer
Long/thick hair=big ones
short/thin hair= small ones

Both paper and cotton sheets can spontaneously ignite at ~450degrees F, which is about 235 degrees C!!!
I don't know much about them, but I believe that the kindest ones to your hair are the fully ceramic iconic ones.
My wife used GHD for along time until here hir dresser told her that they were fu*king up her hair.
She still says that they were the best she has used, but there was no temperature control on them, and they operate at ~210 degrees C, which is too hot for some hair types.
Get some with a temperature control and set it to the correct temp if you value your hair long term.

I've just bought my other half a pair of GHD salon irons, these have the larger plates.
She has thick long hair so her hair dresser thinks these are the most suited.
You can get a heat resistant mat to put them on, which I would highly recommend.
Nathan..

I'm in a quandry now too, (posted a question about these a couple of days ago), lots of people recomended the GHD ones, now we've got people saying check out the vidal sassoon ones and SCP ones (both of which are cheaper than GHD), and avoid GHD.
I know it will be difficult to give definitive answer but can anyone give opinions from experience of using both / all ??
What about a which report ?
I'm on the brink of ordering the GHD ones (£81.45 + free matt and delivery), for std size genuine ones) is the best price i've found so far.
Come on girls, help us useless guys out here...
Ian.

This is why men shouldn't buy girly stuff for girls (and vice versa). Whatever you get will be wrong - Send her down the shops with your credit card and tell her to get them herself - **** suprises - they usually disappoint

GHD are having loads of returns at moment, and have been for some time. They have an electrical issue with the wires breaking as they exit the irons resulting in failure and / or electric shock.
Both of my daughters and the wife use them, so we bought a set of HairArt ceramic irons off ebay for £45 while the GHD's were away for warranty repair.
They look exactly the same with the exception of the branding, although they do heat up slightly faster.

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
So are we saying the GHD ones are not worth the extra money, when very similar items are available for less, don't get me wrong I dont mind paying the extra but if the build quality is not good then I'm loathed to do so.
Haven't we got any professional hair dressers on this forum ?? who give offer the benefit of their wisdom as they would be using them on a regular basis.

The Mrs ran three salons (at once) before she had our third daughter and decided she couldn't be arsed any more, and this is her opinion.
She says she's not sure how either would stand up to commercial use though, but that's a separate issue altogether.
