I'm not one to make long self indulgent posts, but this should stop any misunderstanding.
I'm no longer a moderator on this BBS, and I think its safe to say never will be again

There's been a few things said by Mod's, ex mods, users. and Webby's that concern me(not that my opinion counts for much).
Firstly, yesterday Shaun said..
Now if SN Is a commercial company first and a community BBS second this makes sense. As a commercial company then SN has the right to hire and fire who they like.
Question. is SN A communuty BBS first, or a Commercial Company first?
Secondly, the rate of knots which moderators are leaving. Already the forums are a mess with mis located threads all over the place and I dread to think the impact a serious troublemaker would cause with so few mods around. A question I believe the team should be asking is "What has changed to make so few want to be mods anymore?"
Thirdly, the Ego's of the parties involved. Anyone would think that SN is the centre of the world and that who can jostle for the best position will become grand potentate of all things. Let's get real guys, SN is just a BBS in a insignificant part of the internet. Just trying to put things in perspective.
Forthly, the moving of threads to fight club.
There have been some real ding dong battles in SN policy in the past. Unless these were of the libelous variety those posts were allowed to stand, and rightly the editing of replies by mods was discouraged as it would make the whole thing seem a huge cover up.
Recently far less sensitive threads have been moved to fight club, which to be honest is the equivilent of the obituary column in the times. Such that it looks like an attempt is being made to sweep it all under the carpet(cover up). If the threads were that unacceptable(and apart from people contining to (reasonably) politley press the matter) I can't see why they were'nt then they should have been locked or vaped, not hidden in a place where so few people go.
Fifthly, I'm was pleased to see Simon clarify the rules for moderator behavoir. In that any insult by any media by any mod, acting as a SN mod is unnaceptable. Since any mod posting on SN(regardless of context), is representing SN then that should see an end to the petty infighting that's been going on. For example. Questioning someones integrity is as much as an insult as calling them a f*kwit.

To assume anything, of course, is a very dangerous thing to do and only Simon or Shaun could answer that question.

Personally, I had a number of reasons for not wishing to be part of the "team" any longer, and so invited Simon in clear and simple terms to remove my moderator status.

Of course, it is apparent that for some, SN is much, much more than just a BBS in an insignificant part of the internet, and for them, rather than just being for the community, it serves a greater purpose. Perhaps if they would just be honest with those that support them, much of the troubles would be resolved.
