Omega or Breitling?

Omega or Breitling?
Have decided to go for either of the above I guess the Omega speedmaster range or Breitling Navitimer, want it for the look more than a practical use (may as well be honest )
Which would you recommend?
Thanks

I have both (Montbrilliant and Speedmaster Pro Schumacher 2001)....errmmm I'd say choose the one you like the best?!? I'm ashamed to admit I haven't used the slide rule function on my Navitimer once , so can confidently say both do an adequate job of telling the time and the date. Omega has cool carbonfibre dial and stainless strap, so can be worn to the gym and sweated in, Breitling looks 'prettier', but leather strap a liability for day to day use/shower/gym etc.
Don't want a fake, but respect that they are the right choice for many....no one but you will ever know (of course the fact *I* know is what compells me to shun the fakes )

Gonna try one of the replica sites mentioned on the other thread, was just trying to see what make/model held more credibility with the 'scoobynet massife'
Quite like the breitling BRT011 Navitimer 50th Anniversary (1952 Special Edition) Black (3rd one down in breitling section here http://www.luxuryreplica.co.uk/ )
Bit of a rip off I know but I am nearly as tight as pslewis

Bit of a Breitling fan myself, and I'm planning on getting a Navitimer next (probably an Olympus).
Not that familiar with the Omega to give you a fair comparison.
Pretty sure Nat21 is right about the pricing though.
I too wouldn't want a fake, but that's me.
Post a pic when you get whatever you decide to get.

Personally, Omega would be my choice, and as previously mentioned, can recommend www.luxuryreplica.co.uk as a good choice.

One of the reasons I want a fake is that I am a clumsy **** and always break/scratch watches and not sure I want to walk around with 2/3K's worth of watch on my wrist. Although I ain't loaded I could afford to buy a 'proper' one, maybe a fake could be a good test run to see if I look after it.
Thanks

The colt gmt is only 40mm,i have small wrists and it looks fine.
In the end no-one on here can advise you what to get, just try some on and go with your instincts.
And read this thread before you buy.

Fair play, that one looks good.
Re Pay Pal query, there are plenty of horror stories, just type pay pal into google and see what comes up, but personally no problems with it.

One tip - the guy at Seiko told me the most repairs they get are for watches with little hands on the faces, the mini-dials inside the main dial. Those hands come off easily. So I avoided one of them. Dunno if the same applies to expensive makes.

As already said, I'd go with the Breitling, but that's my choice.
Not sure I'd agree that Breitling are better than Omega though. (Assuming that's what you mean by the Ford/BMW comparison Paul ) I'd say they're more or less on a par in terms of quality, finish, movements, desirability, heritage etc
What I can't get to grips with is why go for a fake?
For a £100 I'd much rather have a real Accurist (or similar) than a fake anything.
Looking at the "Breitling" on luxuryreplicas mentioned above it's:
1. Obviously not a Breitling (even though it pretends to be)
2. Not chronometre certified (even though it says it is on the case)
3. Made in Japan (though it says "Manufacture en Suisse" on the case)
etc
Nothing wrong with buying a cheap watch. But why buy a fake?
Would you stick a "Turbo" badge on your NA car?

Okay... major delay between starting and finishing that last post (hate it when that happens) so I'm a bit out of sync with the discussion (once a muppet, always a muppet ).
I'd still say go with an "honest" cheaper watch though.

Rich,i have to disagree about finish and quality.Compare the respective leather straps for instance.
Omega, just a normal black leather strap.
Breitling, white stitching, great quality leather and the thickness of the leather, leagues ahead of omega imo. Also not cheap at £80.....
Secondly the dial/face of the navitimer, its a work of art, omega make nothing that compares, but once again you pay for it.

Can't argue with the points you've made (and try pricing up a Breitling croco strap - roughly £300 and that's before you add the clasp...)
Having said that, I've had a very good look at a friends Omega Sea Master and I'd say the case finishing and detail was excellent.
Personally I love the Breitling Navitimer dials - very detailed, but they're not everyone's choice.
I guess the point I was making was largely based on limited experience and stuff I've read here and there.
eg I read something recently about Breiling, Omega, Rolex etc being in the "luxury" bracket while Lange, JLC, Patek Phillipe, Ulysse Nardin etc being "uber-luxury" bracket.
(In fact, here's the page in question: http://www.chronocentric.com/watches....shtml#compare)
Anyway, doesn't matter really...

My old man has a fake rolex from Hong Kong (got it 5/6 years ago) and to this day everyone around the family including my uncle who has a couple of real ones thinks it is real.
TBH I can't justify spending 2/3K on a watch no matter how much I want one, even though I think it is cool as ****. So buy a cheapo for £100 squids and it will fool 'most' people. Would rather pay 2/3k off the mortgage.
Do accept your point though that buying a decent normal watch would be a better idea.

P.s Paulr - your watch looks bloody superb

Have a couple of fake watches that are good quality. Also 2 real ones, a rolex, and recently a Breitling Aerospace that I got off someone on here. Must admit I love the Breitling. Just seems to look good without being flash.
Have to buy what you'll be happy with though.
Alas
