W@nkers who can't drive in snow
The number of idiots who inisted on driving up my **** while I was driving along the M56 was staggering tonight! There are 3 lanes people, if I'm going too slow for you, overtake me!
The worst was a Shogun driver who was literally 2 feet off my back bumper. Thanks mate, when I brake, you'll slide into me with your 2 ton tank and crush my wife and child in the back seat.
If I become a traffic cop can I shoot bad drivers on sight, please?

Aw come on, get with the plot.
Shoguns have 4 wheel drive and so are ideal for driving in the snow and ice, in fact they are so much better in the snow and ice that you can ignore all safety measures and get up close to the car in front.
They are tricky to drive in the dry though so only the best drivers can handle one.
Actually I have a friend who was doing a lot of work being flown in single engine planes. He got into a light plane with two engines and said to the pilot how much safer it felt to be in a craft with two engines. The rather dry reply from the pilot was "Don't be fooled, if one engine fails the other only takes you to the scene of the crash."
So it is with 4 wheel drive in the snow, it only takes you to the scene of the accident but, as you rightly point out, the laws of physics still apply.

what a load of crap
no mater how many wheels you have on you'r motor it is all to do with what you have in contact with the surface i.e. the snowy road , so crap rubber =crap grip =crap stoping=wife and kids dead and you in a coma

Last time we had snow round here i went out for a spin in my Land Rover Defender with knobbly mud tyres and locked diffs.
It was great fun cruising past all the 'school-run' 4x4s that were stuck in the snow because the muppets hadn't realised that summer road tyres and normal diffs aren't the best thing in the snow.

I had a great moment last night when I returned home to encounter one of my neighbours stuck on our road in his BMW. Calmy waited behind him until he stopped spinning his wheels and squirming all over the place, then drove round him and onto my drive.
When I got out of the car he came running up to me clearly infuriated with the situation - staring at the Scoob I said that it went quite well on the snow considering it wasn't a quality car (he is always telling me how he would never have a Scoob as he only likes quality cars )
BMW drivers - they're just the same even on Christmas Day

I'll give it to pflowers, it was a 3 series (debadged, so probably a 318i with big wheels). He got um my ****, stayed there for 2 miles then decided to overtake. Thats what confuses me, why drive close and then overtake?

From experience im afraid, had one do it to me the other day, nearly turned my engine off, he could have pushed me along. Ended up brake checking the w@nker, needless to say he dropped back !

Our BMW 325 is fine in the snow - so I don't get this BMW dissing crap - get a life
Ours gets past stuck FWD cars aimlessly spinning away stuck in the snow!
Simply done by turning off the DSC/traction control which causes it to automatically switch to active LSD mode (limited slip differntial -basically the traction control puts the brake on the spinning wheel - but doesn't apply brakes to the other or reduce the throttle as it would normally do if it was switched on).
LSD to idiots = 2 driven wheels in low traction not 1 driven wheel like almost other 2wd car on the road. (scoobies have permanent mechanical ones on the rear axle - which is partly why they have twitchy back ends and understeer woefully on tightbends )
So BMW = not the worlds worst snow driving machine
Remember almost all old Volvos were RWD, remember what country they came from, and what type of weather they endure....Snow chains are king - who needs 4wd?

i'm p155ed off. my scoob is broken so no snow fun in that. and I also have a mint E30 325i that i picked up cheap for when the scoob need's work,and I think is ok(i dont have the passion that I do for the scoob with it) i don't drive like a wan**er either (mine has the optional indicator pack fitted too) we aren't all bad or stuck up t&@ts, it's all bmw's fault anyway.... extract taken from owners manual....
multi-disc limited slip differential*
in very unfavourable driving conditions, theconventional form of a differential may be unable to transmit torque to the road without wheelslip occuring. The limited-slip differential(app 25% effect) greatly reduces the tendancy for one driven wheel to spin.
In practice, this means improved traction when pulling away, accellorating, and corneringat speed in poor driving conditions.
A car also tends to spin round it's vertical axis (centre of gravity) when the power output is high or when load reversals occur on surfaces with a varying degree of grip. A good deal of skill is required to control such skidding or spinning, particulary when driving in a highly enthusiastic manner.
