Seriously, want to go see my grandad in Pattaya as he's pretty ill at the moment & I may not get the chance again. What are the prices of flights etc like at the moment? gone through the roof or taken a tumble?

if he's on his death bed, price should not be an issue. search the web. I would hazzard a guess at hard to get hold of and expensive.

Cheers for the constructive answers, being as I'm at work during office hrs & I don't get a chance to phone around or look on net I thought I'd ask a question on SN to get a quick response, suppose that was too much to ask eh?

I was speaking to one of my Aussie colleagues, and he was saying that holiday prices to Thailand, Sri Lanka etc. have gone thru the roof. The leeward side of the islands is wholly unaffected, and demand for resort 'space' for people who have had to cancel their holidays is huge.

If you do not take precautions against malaria usually, you may wish to reconsider this time.
Reports are of a lot of standing water following the disaster. Stagnant water encourages mosquitos and the press are predicting an epidemic. However, mosquitoes can not breed in sea water. I guess it depends how much the sea water has been diluted by the rain.
Still, I wouldn't take the chance.
Good Luck
