Leyla was forced into prostitution by her mother when she was eight years old, according to the 28 November report, and was raped repeatedly thereafter. She gave birth to her first child when she was nine, and was sentenced to 100 lashes for prostitution at around the same time. At the age of 12, her family sold her to an Afghan man to become his "temporary wife". His mother became her new pimp, "selling her body without her consent".
At the age of 14 she became pregnant again, and received a further 100 lashes, after which she was moved to a maternity ward to give birth to twins. After this "temporary marriage", her family sold her again, to a 55-year-old man, married with two children, who had Leyla’s customers come to his house.
The newspaper report makes no mention of her family or the men to whom she was married. In Iranian law, in a case of "intercourse with a blood relative" both parties are considered culpable, but only Leyla M has been referred to in the reports of which Amnesty International is aware.

As it stands this thread has certainly become no more intelligent, academic or well thought out as a consequence of your contribution. Well done you!

Seriously though, I've yet to find those stories on any proper news site. Looks like the kind of made up crap the pro-US Iraqi groups were using to justify the invasion of Iraq - people being put through plastic shredders etc.

The site may be fake, but I dont think anyones doubting that this sort of thing does happen in these countries.
As for 'invading Iran' I think we should sort out our 'rapidly becoming a major sh*t hole' country first (thats UK for any of you who have already jumped ship or live abroad anyway).

I think the answer may lie in the fact that Iran has a recent and proven record of apalling cruelty to human beings, and that the structure by which this cruelty is administered is religious.
I suppose all the stoning stories were propaganda too?

Why the focus on Iran, why not the human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia (far worse than Iran) or Uzbekistan, for example? Because they're friends of our government.

Dunno ajm, you are the expert on Iran. You read "Iranpressnews" every day I assume. It's not like you just got a link forwarded, that would be so not like you
Carry on, this thread will do just fine without me.

While whoever is behind the website in ajm's original link might be in some doubt, Amnesty International and the Daily Telegraph are a bit more trustworthy and appear to have the same story.
Any proof that this is a hoax?

Amnesty are more trustworthy but The Daily Telegraph??
Seems the story is genuine but even Amnesty have been duped in the past and have had to revise their statements regarding abuses in Iraq.

All sounds pretty reasonable to me. I bet they don't have the same problems with chavs and kids trashing everything with impunity like here.
Imagine if a chav keyed your car, at the moment basically nothing would be done. But in Iran a group of religeous mullahs would turn up immediately, bury said chav in sand up to the neck, and stone him/her to death.
Sounds pretty good actually, what's their immigration policy like?
