Claims against Highways Agency
Any Scoobynetters successfully claimed of the council for damage caused by the state of the roads.
I managed to hit a monster pothole on my way to work this morning!!
Fortunately the alloy seems to have escaped any damage, but theres a chunk of sidewall missing from the tyre. I just wondered what my chances of getting the tyre paid for by the council are.
I've taken a couple of pictures of the pothole and the damaged tyre plus I reported the pothole to the council and got a reference number.

I've claimed twice for damage caused to my tires and alloys created by potholes. I have had 2x alloys refurbished and 1x new tire paid for by the local council. I took photo's and rang the council to report it. They sent me a claim form in which I detailed the circumstances and attached the photos and receipt for the work carried out. The bill was paid in full on both occasions. It took about 6 weeks to process the claim.

When I called to report the pothole I mentioned that my tyre had been damaged and the operator took my details to send out a claim form, I just wasn't sure if they went straight in the bin when you sent them back!!!
Hopefully I'll get a similar result. I'm having the tyre replaced tomorrow so I'll get them to check the alloy over and the tracking/alignment.

Same here,
Epping Forest Council told me that they had 24hrs to repair the road once it's reported and as I was the first to report it I couldn't claim despite the pothole being nearly 8" deep and well over 10" in circumference.

Idea!
If we video our journeys (sp?) to work once a week/month would they then have a leg to stand on if you wrote in (once a week) stating 'potholes' and providing the video? All in the name of improved council/resident relations , of course....

A very large pothole cause me to get a unrepairable puncture, massive chips out of my alloys and a buckled alloy.
Sent back the claim form and got a "we dont have to pay you becuase we check the roads every three months and a check on that road was completed with in the time permitted" well not exactly their words but to the same effect. Gloucester council = Barstewards!!

Just had a new tyre fitted this morning and it turns out that the inside edge of the alloy has a flat spot which was caused by the impact. The tyre fitter just about managed to get rid of it using a 'hide mallet' such that it balanced up ok. I took it for a test drive and there was no 'wobble' so I presume it should be ok.
Just have to see if the council will stump up for the new tyre and wheel 'repair' !!
