Mobile Phone Query
I have a mobile phone that has been lost and has reported to my insurance on Monday. I have received a new phone and sim card. The lostphone still works with a different SIM in it. I thought they could block the phones these days so they were useless, or does it take a certain amount of time to do so?
Anybody know anymore?
Rik.

Of course if you have reported a phone as lost and have got a replacement through insurance, yet are still able to see the old phone working with a different SIM in it, you are committing fraud.

if youve tried the phone with a new card the phone company know its still about
if you used a sim card traceable to you id suggest you may soon have a knock at the door or a nasty letter
as has been stated above its fraud and the phone companies insurance wont like it
imagine not being able to get insurance on anything again-cars houses etc then ask yourself if its worth it
id have this thread vaped too if i were you

they have a signi? chip inside them now if its a new age phone anyway, the block works through the sim card so thats why its not blocked as they send a signal not dissimilar to a text to tell it to block, if the sim isnt in place, it wont block, but whilst you are using it with a different sim its sending out a message saying im active, so as above if the sim is registered to you, expect to have your collar felt! and tbh you probably deserve it as its people like you that make any insurance so high!!

Hi,
chances are that its slipped thru the net. Usually, the UK networks share the IMEI blacklist which has all barred phones. This is done by the IMEI number which is the electronic serial number and not the SIM card. You can see this as sometimes if you place your SIM in a barred phone it logs onto the network for a few seconds, however as soon as the network realises your phone's barred it logs off and you get "SIM REGISTRATION ERROR".
