RAC or AA

RAC or AA
As I travel so much on business my missus wants to join a recovery company and doesn't know whether to chose the AA or the RAC. Thus does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts as to which is best? It would be the full monty package (home start, relay etc).
Thanks

AA, nuff said
used both b4 rac is slow, made me pay £10 to buy this "link" cos my zorst fell off,
he asked me where the car is going for repairs,
when i took it to the garage the next day and left it there, the to$$er went later on to take it back.,
AA. managed to get a really old car (not saying what to save my embarassment)
working, not even the main dealer or the local garage can do it.

You get good and bad with all the recovery companies.
I have my own personal RAC membership for Bike and car and infact, it covers me in whatever and whoever's car I am in.
I also get free Green flag recovery as part of my Bank package too.
Point to note though. AA DO NOT do free accident recovery. If you are a member of the AA, and have an accident and you want them to recover you. You must may them, its about £104. But if it needs specialist recovery ie a Hiab lift, it will cost you more.
You pay your money you get to chose. They are all expencive but worth it if and when you need them. Oh and the RAC give you a no call out discount on renewal.

Rac all the way. Called them out once for a split injector pipe on my old diesel astra, and my old man called them out when he had a blow out in his van on the motorway (spare was flat!). Both times they were there in 30 minutes. And, as someone already said, both my Dad and I are covered for rescue, whatever car we are in.

Nothing good to say about the AA, been ripped off, messed about and they damaged my car to boot.
Never used the RAC.
Been with direct line for years, used them a couple of time way back and they were excellent. Got full car and personal cover with all the bells and whistles. Just added the missus and her car for £3 a month extra on the same cover as mine.

I was a member of the AA for years, then they wanted extra to cover me on my bike, the RAC disnt...
So, if you have a car and ride a bike the RAC's the better bet
Ive got to say I found both services more than OK...
the service from either depends on how busy they are when you need them and how skilled the patrol person(very PC) is at the end of the day..

Im in the RAC and my sister is in the AA. We have both owned (and still do own) our fair share of bangers and have called them both out loads of times.
Up here anyway, its nearly always an AA van that goes to my sister, where the RAC send a local contractor.
Apart from that, not a huge difference. The RAC seems a bit more willing to tow to my prefered destination where the AA try to convince you to let them tow it to the nearest garage.
Recently though, Im not happy with the RAC`s outlook on a few motoring issues and when im due for renewal, I will look inot others like Britannia.

From what I know only the AA and RAC use their own fleets, the others are all fronts for a network of independent garages/recovery centres.
I've had plenty of bad experience with the AA but I'd still say they're the best if you want a chance of your car being repaired at the roadside.
