After various (very stressful) attempts at getting on the property ladder, I've decided to
a ) Bury my parents under the patio and claim the house
b ) Put them both in an old folks home
Pro and cons for both
a ) Is cheaper but illegal
b ) Cost more but possible
or c ) Buy a Scooby Wagon and Live in that![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Good luck with your house buying though!

The first thing you need to know is how much, realistically, you can afford to burrow. Add this to your savings. If that equalls enough for a packet of marlboro lights, you are doing better than quite a few would be first time buyers.

i'd say im quite fortunite as i came out of school with very little and i got myself a half decent job and the pay isnt brilliant but its a start. i just seen a house down the road from my parents for sale, half the size, beside a railway track and in a flood risk area, 43k!!!! i was gobsmacked at the price for so little, then i seen the price of a council house jobbie and was even more shocked!!!!

When I bought mine, It just seemed that absolutely everyone wanted a piece of me (solicitors, surveys etc.) It was a shock at the time. Whichever way I turned, I was dishing out the folding stuff.
Don't want to be the bearer of scare stories, but just be prepared for it. It's worth it in the end though

I paid 43k for my house in Hull in September 2003.
2 bedrom link detatched house. Nice size back garden, small front garden and my own driveway.
The area is not the best but its the same all over Hull lol.
Hull has some very cheap housing still.
