In response to an FOI request they've (safety camera partnerships) had to provide information on how much money they've purloined from the insured, taxed and MOTed members of the public.

From my own "research" it looks as if the Mid and South Wales Makeloadsamoney Safety Camera Partnership made the fattest profit, viz. takings - appropriate word don't you think - 03/04 £7.3m, surplus - £2.2m

Wonder what they'll spend our money on?

Actually you are close....all the money has to go back into Road Safety Campaigns...it pays for the adverts and so on, but invariable it means new cameras and camera vans....

Thames Valley Police made so much last year they had to give it to the government to spend centrally, cos they just had too much and couldn't spend it on more obvious things, like more coppers and better equipment for them!!!
