I think you will find that after TB Liar started shouting about this, he had to admit that the tories actually promised to waste 35 billion less than Labia. Thats the equivalent of getting rid of all the public service admin people they have given jobs to in the last 8 years to hide the decline in manufacturing

I would rather have them in manufacturing making their own income instead of living in mine. A large part of the reason that manufacturing is more expensive here is down to taxation. Labour rates also come into it, but would it not be better to subsidise manufacturing which will at least give something back to the economy rather than spend it all creating unnecessary jobs so that the jobless totals look better

Pete - that's been proved complete nonsense I'm afraid. It's Billions, not millions, by the way.
The Conservatives have stated they will not increase spending as fast as Labour over the coming years. The gap being £35B. i.e. all the teachers, nurses, doctors can remain in their posts. However, one would hope fewer managers and bean counters will be required.
Make of this what you will, but it still represents increased spending over and above todays levels.
I have a great deal of experience with working across Local Government. Many, many jobs have been created over the past few years. Some useful, others not so.
Let me finish with an appropriate example.
Let's imagine it's Jan 06. Subaru releases a new model year WRX. The car is essentially the same as the MY05. However, Subaru wants to manage it's dealership more closely, and introduces a range of performance targets. They also employ a large group of people in central HQ to monitor progress, visit sites and report back. They lease a new office to house these people. They audit these same people - with staff from one of the big-5. Let's say this adds £500 per car.
What have you gained, as the potential purchaser of a new WRX? You've gained a hole in your pocket, for little tangible gain.
I'm not saying performance targets, audits, etc, etc. are worthless, however you need to understand where exactly your/our taxes are spent, and how wisely. You may well be surprises/disgusted if you really knew.
What you imply by your regurgitation of inaccurate slogans is that there's only one way to manage the business of public services - i.e. spend more on it and it's bound to get better. I suggest you do a little more research of your own before trying to persuade others.

If unlike NL you were honest with your strange rantings PSL, you would have also said that will be a difference in government spending over the length of a parliament, not in the first year. if you are going to make such a mindbending announcement you might at least give the full story rather than pick items out of context to try to strengthen the rubbish you spout.
It is no secret that bureaucracy has increased out of sight with this lot and that is wasting billions of our taxes which could be going to the sharp end where it might do some good. The Conservatives intend to cut all the unnecessary top heavy administration and spend the saved billions sensibly in order to really improve services and also reduce the taxes we are being squeezed for at the moment.
These new academies which are being built at enormous expense are already being shown to be useless!, And they want to build 200 of them!.
All through their tenure they have demonstrated that when it comes to administration and organisation, they are incompetent to say the least! Nothing works!
Lets hear your reply for once PSL, stop running away when it gets difficult.

What TB is actually saying is that the tories intended to spend 2% less (which is £35 billion)over the next 4 years than what labour are intending to spend. So TB is slagging them off for spending less of what has not even been spent yet!

Yes I see that PSL has cut and run again once it gets difficult to answer the truth when it is pointed out to him.
I wonder why he can't actually see these facts for himself. As a "nuclear scientist" he makes a very poor political commentator.

Spending LESS = Less operations carried out = Less for pensioners = Less for improving schools = Less for building new hospitals
What it means to you poor sad blinkered folk is that the Tories will NOT spend what is required to improve the country!
And you are falling for it!!??

I'd happily pay more IF it was realistically going to improve these services. I'm NOT happy to pay more if it's going to be wasted. NL have proved that they are rather competent at wasting our taxes so they won't get my vote.
Whether you have faith in the Tories (or anyone else) to do any better is a matter for your conscience and vote.

I take your point, BUT - its just a spin given by the Tories that says Labour is wasting money ......... Labour would say they are NOT wasting money.
So, you either believe the Tories and there is a pot of gold just waiting to be spread amongst their own - or there isn't and they are lieing!
AND ............ if there isn't actually any waste then they will cut into vital services and the country will suffer ...
I am just pleased that more people believe Labour than they do the Tories!
Andy - no need to vape this thread ......... you may not agree with the logic but it ain't to the detriment of the community to debate political issues, so, be a good boy and put that sabre down!

Pete - your argument would be flawless if labia hadn't created 2 million admin jobs to hide the 2 million lost manufacturing jobs. No-one can keep 2 million people busy doing something constructive. It is merely an overspend to keep them off the dole (which you have previously agreed is the case) - 2 million on the dole at £37 per week is much better than 2 million doing nothing useful costing 20k a year
