Expensive cars are nice, but the wanting's always better than the having. I probably got just as many thrills from my first car - a £2000 XR3i bought when I was 21 as I did from my 911 which I bought when I was 32 and cost thirty times as much.
In any case you don't know his circumstances - most homeowners are probably only a remortgage away from a cayenne or 911 if that's what takes their fancy, so your neighbour could be sitting on large mortgage repayments for a depreciating asset.
So either way, no need to be jealous.
Gary.

One of my neighbours has just had a 500k house built,X5 etc, etc.
Paid for cos his 14 year old daughter is confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.No amount of money can ever change that.
Like Donald Trump says, lifes a game and moneys just a way of keeping score, but when you add it all up,what does it mean. Not very much, except that it can be fun making it,thats all.

My next door is loaded. He owns a pipe bending business.
Easily a millionaire, but yet prefers to live in a house worth 400K with a merc on the drive which he barely uses. Instead drives everywhere in van as its more practical.
Money hasnt changed him at all.

They recently built alot of new houses behind my house which used to be fields. Few footballers live in them aparently. Fair enough only championship (soon to be premiership again) players but they still worth a few bob.
Also bloke who lives kinda up the road or lived there, moved now i think owns a relativly large car audio and alarm company. Probably already a millionare from that buisness but he won a few million on lottery aswell. Cant remember which models but if i remember correctly he had a aston martain and a ferrari.

PSLewis's garage is worth more than 200k !
Its funny, my situation is so different from most of Scoobynet, my house is paid for , dont owe anybody any money, earn a reasonable salary but currently I am driving a knackered Pug 106 because my Rover BRM is knackered, its hard finding a car crapper than a Rover 200 to run when its broken but I did it !
The decent car will come in time but in the meantime I dont have to deal with jiggling credit cards, store cards and mortgages.
Perhaps everybody should have a bar graph on their cars as to how much they actually own, That would knock some smug grins off X5 'owners' faces.

We are just moving into a £500k house & I have spent over £200k on cars in the last 2 years....though only have 2 at a time, I aint greedy !
Don't consider myself rich or anything like that - been very lucky to be in a job thats paid me well into 6 figures for the last 5 years.....and have to be honest thats more luck than hard work.
