Sad spider fact
I learnt yesterday that if you catch a spider to put it outside then the best method is to place your hand (or glass) on the ground and let it walk off once you've got it outside. Apparently, if you drop the spider from a height then its fragile exo-skeleton will break and although it will scamper away looking unharmed it will die within 2-3days.
God, I felt guilty when I found that out as I thought I was doing the little beasties a favour putting them outside - not subjecting them to a slow death!

Indeed. Much better to just squish it there and then before it comes and bites you.

Thought that spider had unleashed a tentacle to have a wee sip of tea..... seems that the "tentacle" is actually a parasitic worm! yuk.

Believe me, it's not funny finding Huntsman spiders in the house.
I don't mind the RedBacks......much.....but Funnel Webs can take a hike too.

When in Oz I visited the Blue mountains, stayed at the Hostal. Sitting in trap 2 I looked up at the ceiling to see a huntsman spider in the corner above the door. At least I was in the right place to start crapping myself
Somehow I just kept calm, knowing the worst it could do was give me a nasty bite, also I didn't want to give it any reason to panic and launch itself from the ceiling So we both sat there going about our business till I left - phew! (and I mean pheeeuuwww!)
After that I always looked up upon entering the bogs

Yeah the ******* are everywhere you turn.
There was one at work a while ago. It was just sitting up against the corner where the wall and ceiling met......right above a passageway. It would have been a fair handspan in size.
I knew there was spider spray in the kitchen but had to go under the spider to get it. No one else would go, I tried, but it felt like my legs were filling with lead the closer I got till I felt like I was gonna pass out.
It disappeared the next day..........
I am not working there anymore. LOL
Huntsman spiders are harmless unless you are allergic to their bite (I know someone who has a massive scar from a bite!!!!). Needless to say I am not keen on finding out my allergy state with them.

Read once in some lame article about things an average person does ie sleeps for 23yrs of their life etc. Anyway it reckoned that the average person swallowed three spiders in their sleep during a persons lifetime. How the **** did they work that out? Been sleeping with my mouth closed for weeks now.

I can't believe what I'm reading here, what a bunch of Nancies you lot are. Why can't you just leave the poor spiders alone to get on with there own business, which FWIW, is usually catching and killing all the nasty little bugs that you really don't want to be giving lodgings to

How did I guess beforehand what PSL's reaction would be, as though it is funny to be that cruel to creatures.
It rather undermines his posts about the poor fox when he was coming out with the inverted snobbery about hunting though!
Hypocrisy rules OK!
