The Pope
Surely, instead of everyone praying for the Pope, or all the Catholics in Poland being told to not hold back their tears and show their emotions, shouldn't they all be saying "hey John Paul, well done mate, you are finally going to meet your maker. I'm sooooooooooo envious"
Just proves what a load of hyporcites they really are.
Hey ho

Have to agree - I know he's Gods representative, but he's still just a frail old bloke - it seems more cruel to pray for him to continue living. My old Dad had cancer and if anyone else has been there, they'll understand that we were glad when he was finally out of his pain.
I wonder how many tears those same people shed for the thousands starving every day in Africa, or the earthquake/ tsunami victims or all the other people in the world that would really benefit from some prayer.....
I'll never understand how the Catholic church can enjoy such wealth and opulence as in the Vatican and reconcile it to the "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven" and the whole incidence of Jesus with the traders in the church. Just doesn't make sense to me......

Sorry, I can't respect the person who heads up a religions that doesn't respect health and humanity issues (condemning contraception, homosexuality is a sin) and the woman's right to choose what she does with her body.

Mart, with any luck I'll have died long before being in the state he's in now, that said if I do make it to that state I'd be glad of some one woodening me, you can be first on the list of batters if you like! Oh, don't let the buggers feed me through a straw for 15 years either!
Personally I can't stand religon, full stop. I can see that a lot of people (sheep) do follow religon and that the pope being ill is news worthy but I'm sick of having it rammed down my throat on every news bulletin! One interviewer asked the reporter at the vatican, what the exact time was when his heart did whatever it did...why, why would anyone need to know that, what difference could that possibly make to anyone other than his closest friends and family? If we're talking about dignity then the press should butt out and leave him alone.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, for and against. I have just read the above posts and one person spoke sense. The rest are doing what they say they disapprove of, Imposing their personnel thoughts on others.

This man has been an inspiration to us all. I'm not a Catholic, but I admire this man above almost all others.
Have some respect, what have some of the moaners done for mankind? When you have done as much as this guy then you can complain.
Its so easy to knock isnt it............. some of you should be ashamed!

in the many years i was in the funeral game, i can count on one hand the amount of familys who wern,t saddened or happy that a close relative had gone. despite your comment, i bet pound to a penny, not one of your relatives would see the funny side on clubbing you when you were seriously ill.
Agreed the media gets on your ****, but as you state your not religoius, spare a thought for those who are, and look at what he is ie the head of the church, these people look to him for guidance and support. they want to know, whats happening, and without the luxury of being there, the media is there only way of knowing.
Its a bit hypocritical to start moaning because they time every event and subject it to analysis, ermm try looking every saturday and sunday after every bloody football match that gets shown. 90 minute match , 90 minute bloody analysis and shi*te spouting. one day of covering someone who has done far more in his 25 years than you or i will ever hope to achieve in our lifetime pales in comparison.

Mart, I don't like footy either! I'm happy for it to exist but only to keep the hooligans out of stuff that I like!
The pope has never inspired me in any way.
People keep banging on about all these good things that he's done, what are they?

I'm sure the pope has done a lot of good things. Bringing Poland out from the grip of communism and putting it back on the map was certainly attributable to his influence.
However, being the head of a church that apparently turns a blind eye to pedophile ministers might not be one of them though...
Nonetheless, I believe he was a good man and may he eventually RIP
