Sorry its a bit late, but I saw the programme that claimed he survived, sounded like another dodgy cover up. They had some random guy, covered in bandage doing a thumbs up, and it was all blury. Yeah sure..............everyone was alright

hard to see how he would survive - there is no gaps around the edges of the compressor blades - so he'd have to punch through them, and they're designed for 100000s rpms and 1500C - theyre tough blades and were doing a few thousand revs at the time.....
