Hi big sinky,

Okay, I'm not yoza, but I thought I'd respond anyway.

To answer your 2nd question, I'd say that the "Patek" is a fake.
If you've just bought it, I hope you didn't pay too much.

I'm no expert on the brand or this model (if it even exists!), but a few things are ringing alarm bells:

- There appears to be day/night indicator (sun showing) where I would have expected a moon phase. This is quite a common trick among fakes, as day/night indicators are much easier to produce. Again, while I'm no expert, I've never seen a Patek with such an indicator.

- The crown and push pieces don't look right. The upper push piece is pitted suggesting aging inconsistent with the rest of the watch and the crown has no teeth which seems odd.

- The dial has an "enamel shine" to it that looks cheap.

- Note the misalightment and inconsistencies where the subdials cross the inner ring.

- The 24 hour indicator has a red hand which is too "showy" for Patek - they are known for understatement.

- The date subdial also looks wrong. Look how the "31" sits very close to the "1" and the "1" is not sitting quite on the same level. Patek would surely have done a better job.

- The hour roman markers on the main dial are also a bit poor.
Take a look at the marker at 4pm. Each of the four roman digits has inconsistently applied luninecent material. Again, Patek would have done better.

- The week-day subdial has what appears to be "in-between-days" which is odd. In the picture, it's showing in-between Friday and Saturday.

Overall, the whole thing doesn't look up to the very high standards you'd expect from a very expensive watch like a Patek Philippe.

This may be a replica of a previous model, or it may be entirely fictional, but I'd say either way, definately a fake.

Sorry.

at the price i paid i didn't think so but was interested just to see how good it was. looked really nice at first glance and was a bit of an impulse buy. thanks Rich think i will stick with my Seamaster, which BTW yoza is doing really well.

The poljot was bought for more interest value than to actually wear. been looking at some chase durer watches as well. what is the consensus opinion on these?

cheers

No worries sinky,

Sorry for the lengthy "damning" post - something shorter from me would probably have been sufficient. No offence intended. Glad you haven't been burned with this one.

I've never seen a Chase Durer in the flesh, but have looked at their web site before.
They seem to specialise in chronographs and if you like complicated pilot watches (I do) then these look pretty good. Any models in particular?

Rich

Hi there
I've had a Chase Typhoon(3 straps) and a Blackhawk. Both excellent watches although at the cheaper end of the Chase scale. Found them to be just different which was commented on by a few people. Really fancy a Trident FCX or a Combat Command so am looking out for a second hand one of them.
Got a Ladyhawke Chrono arriving for the wife this week. Seemed like a good swap at the time Better not let her see that. Watch looks really nice in the catalogue and is coming with the clear/silver strap.
Really good watches.

Hello BS

The Patak is a replica, but not a replica of any specific model they make.

I think you would have paid about $120 for it.

On the other hand, the Poljot Aviator is the biz, nice big, reliable, bullet proof beast..good choice.

I have a Brietling Jupitor PILOT that Im bored with, I will PM you some snaps when I get time, if you like it you can have it cheap, it used to sit next to your SeaMaster so they will get on.

If you looking at ChaseDurer my Trident FCX has been heavily used and is still like new, I would recommend this model if you like big bulky watches, its quarts though, which is the only down side, but reliable as ****.

The dollar is weak against the pound, so the value is good.
