Thumbs up

Fastest way to eliminate if its shingles....

did you have full blown chicken pox as a child???

if you did, its likley not to be shingles...... if you didnt it,s possible...

shingles... AKA herpes Zoster , is a bugger its an infalamtion of the nerve endings, and can be found all over the body,,, most common areas, are torso arms , shoulders etc... it can do the head, face (eyes included!!) , looks like small watery blisters with shiney tops, and itches like f*ck major f*ck!!!!

it will follow nerve lines, so expect to see it spread!!!

oh and if it is shingles, as long as you have spots, you are highly contagious!!!!

it used to be a quaranteenable disease, but i believe now it can be zapped with a weeks course of tablets...

i had it for 12 weeks!!!!!!! and got a repeat dose#!!!!

oh and the final rub...... once you get the virus, you never eliminate it from your system, you just build a tolerance...

There is evidence to support the early use of an antiviral in shingles. Suggest ring your GP when they open in the morning to negotiate a same day opinion and antiviral if the diagnosis is confirmed.

Mart, you've got that wrong. If you have had chicken pox it's more than likely it will be shingles.

You can only get shingles (Herpes Zoster) if you have previously had chickenpox. After having chickenpox the virus lies dormant in the nerves, and shingles occurs when it is revitalised in one particular nerve to the skin, thus explaining the way it affects a clearly demarcated band of skin only. Usually the cause is a decrease in your body's natural resistance, which may come through other infections, stress, being generally run down, or occasionally, when the body's immune defences are affected by certain drugs or other immune deficiencies.
I have had it once and it was fecking painful.

Had it once. The most painful experience I have known to date. I couldn't wear anything on my upper body for two weeks and had to sleep sitting up.
Almost losing an arm in a motorbike accident and breaking numerous bones doesn't come close.

Had it 2 years ago, started under my arm and spread to back and chest .. it was sore but not THAT bad.

Just took painkillers regularly, it's a bit like getting needles stuck in you, sort of sharp shooting pains .. still feel the occasional sting

Took about 2 weeks to disappear.

Guess who won't be at the TP meet this week Helen had this a couple of years back and is sensitive to this and tonsilitis, so I think we should maybe keep clear of you and Neve for the time being.

Get well soon, matey
