Yep, on National Geo all the time, they have just released series II.
Great, gripping and often harrowing viewing.

Always watch this on Nat Geo. Another good program is Seconds From Disaster which covered the Concorde crash in one of the episodes.

Seen most of them on Nat Geog on the Satellite. My favourite was the 'Atlantic Glider', the airbus with 200 passengers that ran out of fuel between Canada and Portugal and glided the last 200 km and landed without power - landing was hard and fast but no major casualties.
The bairns love the series...

Yep, saw this. Graphic reminder of why I hate flying with every nuance of my soul!. If god had wanted me to fly he would have given me a red bull and wings! ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
We talk of so called hero's all the time, mainly intellectually challenged footballers who happened to have just scored a goal in some competition or other. Real hero's are just like the guy who landed that plane against all the odds, and saved 80 odd lives plus that of his Captain.
I bet he didn't get a Knighthood for it but if his name had been Beckham, and he had just named one of his kids "mersey tunnel", who knows......
I take my hat off to the crew.

Unfortunately in the Atlantic Glider case the fuel was largely lost because the procedures for a fuel leak weren't carried out as well as they could have been. Most of the fuel they needed for the flight was actually pumped overboard. This turned an inconvenient problem into one that very nearly lost the flight.
Yes it was a feat of sphincter-tightening airmanship to get it down ok, but it was due to their mistakes in dealing with the relatively small leak that they were in that position at all...
The 111 captain half out of the window case - that was definitely hero stuff !
