I bank with First Direct so normally Yorkshire and Scottish accents.

Despite what people may think, I do not agree with overseas outsourced call centres!

At leaat your converation was short, I called SKy yesterday with a complaint, chated ot a stupid retard for about 15 minutes and after all this and a number of pointless checks I was told to call back in three days to ask for a refund.

Some of the call centres in the UK are very poor, and people here tend to have a bit of an attitude problem.

See my thread earlier in the week - I've just cancelled my car insurance with eSure as their customer services centre has been outsourced to India.

That's my approach too...vote with your business. It's interesting that some companies are now using the fact that they are UK-based as a feature so they know there is kick back and a question over quality.

This is a rather intersting story. To paraphrase, India will need to recruit up to 120,000 "foreign" workers due to a lack of European english skills.

Hmm, I wonder why, perhaps it is because people are pissed off with Apu not being able to understand them, or vice versa.

I really do hope more people vote with thier business and take it to companies who are keeping jobs in the UK, or, at least have staff in call centers who can understand and be understood.

Decent, self respecting companies do not use Asian call centres.

Look at NatWest, part of their marketing campaign is "UK based call centres, no more overseas call centres" (or words to that effect).

Great, so the consumer saves 13p on thier car insurance. Can't understand a word they say though!!.......however, it is not their (Asian employee's) fault - it's the pikey company that chose to reduce service levels to cut a few costs.

"Reduce service/reduce costs".

Bit like Aldi.....

"Reduce quality/reduce costs".

SAME THING IN MY BOOK!!!

PMSL

Who were the amongst first banks to close most of their small town branches and sell them off to Wine Bar chains?
Who were one of the first companies in the headlong rush to shift call centres to Asia?
Who were the first bank to base advertising campaigns on the facts that they were no longer selling off local branches for conversion into wine bars, and their call centres were now based in the UK?

Exactly and I agree.

Now, who is the first company to realise and admit their mistakes.....

Then a daft albeit English lady who sent me another card with exactly the same details on
