Will Eating Maggots Do Any Harm?
Went fishing today and a couple of young lads were fishing too ..... keen as mustard they were.
They didn't catch anything, but I was pulling out the Roach and stuff regular - so, they came alongside me and started fishing .... when they didn't catch anything they started to 'tap' me up for some info!! Great kids, eh??
Anyway, I dressed their line, reduced the weights, gave them a good float of mine and tied on a smaller hook, showed them how to hide the hook in the maggot - yet keep it wriggling.
Now, I thought I would pass on my tip for winter fishing ...... pop a few maggots inside your mouth and line about 6 along the bottom of the mouth, between the gum and the cheek (this warms them up and gets them wriggling).
They laughed and clearly didn't believe me .......... so, I lined 6 up along my lower jaw. No bother, and carried on helping them cast properly.
Anyway, went back to my rod to continue myself and noticed my false teeth had moved - lifted them out to retrieve the maggots ......... GONE!!!
I have swallowed them!!

Dead ones wont do you any harm - If you swallow live ones two things can happen - If you are lucky they will be in the early stage of development and will suffocate. If they are more developed and getting ready to form a pupae, they wont need oxygen, so they can 'nest' in your intestines. Were there any in the box that looked like burnt rice? This is the pupae stage, and generally once some of them are ready, they are al no far away.
If they do nest in your intestines, it wont do to much harm - You will be sick as a dog for 3-4 weeks, but you wont die or **** bluebottles

Huh! Lewis, you have noted the popularity of my fishing threads and you want a bit for yourself! I have never seen such a transparent attempt to garner kudos by aligning onesself with a popular movement not of your own manufacture. Shame on you.

start the ball rolling so to speak and swallow a handful of laxatives - or have an enema and flush the buggars out!

That method has been around for years to keep the maggots warm and wriggly. I must say i could not bring myself to do it though. In the old days they used to dye them with a substance to make them bronze in colour. Trouble was the sustance was dangerous and a few anglers died of mouth cancer. They dont use that substance any more so you might get away with it PSL.
