Default Tom Tom - Maps of France

Has anyone got/used them and, if so, how do they compare with the UK ones?

I used the french maps in my Tom Tom Go when I went to le Mans for the Moto GP. It worked fine, got me there spot on, no problems at all.

TTN 5 comes with all the European maps down to street level, I've no reason to suspect they're any worse than the UK map.

Do be warned, though, the initial release of TTN 5 for pocket PC is quite buggy - I'm quite likely to be going back to v3 (which just has the Major Roads of Europe map) until either there's an update or I need to travel in mainland Europe.

I've recently got back from France after being there for 6 months. Tom Tom 3 was pretty good, although I did wish it had more streets when driving in towns and cities. It was spot on for motorways and other big roads. It certainly saved a lot of hassle.

Cheers

The maps work OK most of the time...

Did run into a spot of bother last time I was over there - I was heading for Cherbourg up the A84 and it diverted me... I trusted it and ended up on a dirt track - it was telling me to go straight ahead and turn left in 50yds. When I reached the 50 yds, it turned out to be through a corn field - I decided against going off-road and turned around.

Other than that - it's been invaluable
