Damon Hill on Top Gear.

Damon Hill on Top Gear.
To anybody who watched Top Gear on Sunday night, Damon Hill was the guest.
He seems a decent, down to earth sort of bloke. It was so interesting hearing him talk about F1 etc etc.
It's amazing how un-interested he is in Motorsport these days. He hasn't raced competetively since F1 and even then on his last few races he drove in the pits cos he couldn't be arsed to race anymore. It was surreal almost how someone could be an ex-world champ and now almost be so un-interested - there is almost contempt for the sport.
When he was drivng the top gear motor doing his lap, he looked like a dithering stuttering and unconfident driver (his time contradicted that though).
Naturally very talented, but so utterly turned off by what he does best.
Fair play to him, was just, well weird weren't it!!

I was stood next to him at the Motor Show a few years back when he was still in F1 - I never knew till my mate poked me in the back. Always thought he was a decent bloke - his lap on TG just showed how little effort is required to drive quickly & smoothly when you know what you're doing.

Most drivers who are INTO motorsports, start doing Le-Mans, or Touring Cars or something like that after Formula one. He's still got it obviously, but he did say that he was getting wary of having a major accident one day. He's got kids, a wife, and a whole load of cash! I'd pack it in too
Still reckon he's the Stig though
I remember him driving a Merc around a very hilly track, and making someone through up, was it Hammond??? or was it on 5th Gear??? Cant remember now

Damon Hill is as slim as they come. The stig has a good proper belly on him visible through the suit!! Have a look when they show him in a car.....

Catch him at his BMW dealership at the midlands.....
Met him many many times when he was still in F1.A genuine sound-as-a-pound bloke.
Always makes me laugh , as I remember seeing (and meeting) him in 1992 when he was nursing a god awful brabham to last place in the british gp and the great british public didnt give two craps about him.
Then suddenly hes promoted from test driver to full driver at williams in 93 and everyone and his dog suddenly all start cheering him on
I dont reckon hes the stig- I reckon thats johnny herbert

Yeah he got the best time. Now they have a new board for F1 drivers.
Mr Hill now drives a A3. And he runs a business where people pay him each month or year (like having a hire car or contract car) and you can specify which car you want (i.e merc,ferrari,bmw,etc....). You can change your mind when ever you want and you get another car. Cool or what.

Damons a "grounded" kind of guy
He actually started off racing bikes and did the whole "race weekend thing" out of the back of transit for a good while...and did a bit of m/c dispatch work as well
The stig is a F3000 driver….. sadly im sworn to secrecy otherwise id tell you the name
You heard it here first!

having a down syndrome child must put almost everything else in the world into perspective, even F1.
I've only seen Damon in interviews, but he comes across as a pretty dedicated family man and an all round nice chap.
i also saw the test drive in the merc with the bloke throwing up. Damon looked as calm as if he'd just parked up in his garage, lol!
