Default So where does the line of acceptability lie?

Following the removal of the Talleban sniper thread I pondered and wondered where the line lies?

We see people on the news who are seriously injured and may die, soldiers in combat, people in Palestine or Israel with horrific injuries following a bomb explosion. I also can think back the attack on the hotel in Brighton and the Tory conference with Tebbit being carried out in his pajamas. All of that seem to be be acceptable to links to, view and discuss.

We also see on the news children in the process of dying through starvation or see bodies piled up such as WW2, Yugoslavia, Cambodia etc etc and that seems to be acceptable.

It seems it is seeing the actual moment of death that seems to be the issue, the before and after is OK, but that actual moment is a no-no, unless it in a film of course, then it's just fine.

If you can't see what is wrong with having it on here, then I give up. What was missing from those links was any kind of balanced political, humanistic or journalistic context. It was death and murder for your own macabre sense of titillation. It was like the mechanics of sex being shown without the love and as such was indistinguishable from extreme hardcore pornography. Which is ok for people to view in their own homes, of course, but it's rightfully banned from here.

Links to **** are banned from here, for the reason that the site should not be facilitating the accessing of that kind of material. This is an open access forum, which is why it has moderators to look after the more vulnerable users.

Locking this one - contribute to the thread in policy if you want to. The thread had been allowed to run (probably for too long), but I can assure you it has nothing to do with political correctness and EVERYTHING to do with what is considered acceptable to be posted on this board.
