2 chinooks (sp) went over my house this morning at around 11 and just before, I did hear a really loud plane go over but couldn't see it. I'm in Northampton BTW.

It serves a dual purpose though - It puts the ****s up people and serves to remind them how much danger we are all in from imminent terrorist attck.

9 x Hawks - otherwise known as The Red Arrows. It was just on the news and for the reasons as mentioned above. They also flew over my mum & dad's house on their way back home to Scampton presumably. I love the Red Arrows

I spent the day with the Reds at Scampton last year, sat in on the mission briefing, watched the practice displays from the datum point - pretty awesome stuff. Totally amazing at what top guys they were, very down to earth, ordinary blokes

Actually make that six times as we saw one practising at Scampton on Friday

ScoobyChick, I was in Red Ten, flying alongside the nine so I could take photographs of the display for a magazine article. They do this quite a lot in practise routines and if you can convince them that giving you a ride will majorly benefit the Reds or RAF, you're in with a chance. Any passengers in a real display will be very well known to the squadron and 100% trusted not to thow up or pull the ejector handle by mistake
Fantastic day, an experience you just cannot buy. But if invited again, I'd decline. Big g and a spinning horizon is actually very unpleasant. How I didn't puke I'll never know. Wimp or what!
Richard.
