we used this a couple of years ago - http://www.holidayrentals.co.uk/
hired a place just outside nerja called "tres terrazas". lovely place with great views and a private pool and badminton court (far too hot for that though!) wasn;t the easiest place to find, but we got there in the end!

I've used JamesVillas.com before (might be .co.uk) and was very pleased.
Loads of sites and choice, Google around.
Also depends on where you want to go, you may be able to find specialised local ones.
Sorely tempted by Bali or Sri Lanka. You can get a villa plus several staff, cook, cleaner, driver etc, all dirt cheap, especially if there a few of you.

We'd certainly use it again as well, that's if we could get beyond going back to Tuscany.
