Question Photo card driving licenses...

Has anyone changed their old crappy paper license for a new fan-dangled photo card version recently?

How long did it take to get the new one?

Just remember you can't use your nice plastic jobby to rent a car in the UK, unless you bring along the paper section too. Without the paper bit, the rental agency calls the DVLA and tries to charge you 10 quid for the privilege...

a jobby where I come from is a piece of pooh.. so I can understand why hire firms wouldnt accept it!

Do you think I should take both bits if I am going abroad?

Your licence isn't complete without both sections being present (what a great idea that was ) so you'll need to take both sections to be sure, although the last couple of times I've hired a car abroad they've only bothered with the photo card bit

clean as a whistle mick

If I do get points then may have to claim ive lost it....and keep the clean one at home safe

I just like having it in several pieces- once part blew out of the WPCs hand after she was writing me a bus lane ticket (bitch ) and I refused to chase it....was her fault so she had to get it- was pissing myself watching her chase it in the wind Had nothing to lose as she was already writing my ticket out.

Nope, Johnny Foreigner has no clue about the need to present both parts - from my experience at least.
