Have they come through yet?

Are you having them done under local or general?

Why do some people have to have them removed? I've had mine, no problems, for about 20 years.

Unhappy :-(

Same here mate, i gotta get all four taken out, i opted to have the procedure done under general, as i would rather be knocked out while it's going on, so would like to hear of any experiences.

cheers RAZ

It depends whether they come out easily or whether they have to get the chisel to them

Had a couple of mine done under general a few years back and had no problems at all

Lots of reasons most common are that they can compact the rest of your teeth - i.e. there is no room for them, or that they are coming through at the wrong angle as in not growing upwards but forwards if that makes sense?

My bro had his done on Friday under general and it was not a simple proceedure they had fused to his jaw bone! I had mine done and it went fine but be prepared to be out of action for a few days and you won't be able to eat very well for a while.

Its not the most pleasent thing but if they have said you have to have them out then its preferable to what would happen otherwise

I had all mine plus a baby tooth that never came out first time round. General anaestetic is ,I'd have another one now if I could

It wasn't as bad as I thought, I was back in work the next day, if you like soup you'll be ok.

Mine came out under a general. One had caused an infection and was giving me bad breath, so I decided to have the lot out.
They were deep down so there was a lot of chiselling and levering apparently
24 hrs after the general, I felt fine as the drugs were very very good , but the next 4 days were very uncomfortable, especially sleeping as every time I rolled over, my cheeks would hurt like hell.
I took 3 days off work and even at the end of the week I wasn't back to 100%.

I had a near horizontal one chiseled out a year back under local. Local takes away all pain so as long as you don't stare at the hammer you'll be fine. Worst thing was a sore mouth as keeping it wide open for 20 mins pulled some muscles. If you have them done under general you'll be able to do an excellent impression of a goldfish bowl for a couple of days. Don't forget to leave them under the pillow

When I was 15 I had 4 wisdom teeth out.

On a local - It was ace.

Didn't hurt at all and they were perfectly healthy (He was making room for my other teeth). Took the dentist about forty minutes and at one point he actually had his Knee on my chest to get enough leverage .

Later on in the evening the pain started to come through - which wasn't so pleasant !

I had my top two out 2 weeks ago and it was OK, I was ****ting it before I went after hearing all the stories, I even booked the day off work.

Anyway, I was in there 40 minutes didn't hurt a bit and the only discomfort came the following day rinsing out with saltwater to prevent infection because that made a rank taste in my mouth.

The bottom ones are supposed to be tricky and most are hospital jobs, so if that is what you are having done, hard luck

Yep - that was when the Dentist mounted me .

Thought he was gonna rip the whole of my lower jaw off at one point.

But it didn't hurt at all - it was actually quite amusing - being able to chat to someone as he sets about removing your teeth .

I've had mine extracted. It's pretty scary watching the dentist elevate off the floor as he levers the buggers out.

I advise you to book the first appointment of the day when the dentists tools are at their sharpest.

had mine taken out in hospital, they were coming out sideways.

it was a nightmare.

the beds are bad for my back
didn't sleep for 2 nights

when i woke up from the operation the wicked witch (nurse) yanked this thing from my nose,
i said i felt clogged at first and now i can breath properly
she said its a big tube that goes in your nose into your throat (i thought i didn't want an explantion thx)
the big guy in the bed opposite snored like theres no tomorrow
a new guy comes in the 2nd day, thinking hes the joker.
asks who snores ? as a joke i nearly pointed at the big guy, but instead changed it like i was scratching my head (phew)

Had my bottom one out 3 or 4 weeks ago now, I posted on here too about it

took about 40mins, with a hammer, chisel, pliers, screwdrivers etc etc, then plenty of stitches

Its still a bit tender now, and I still have to be careful how I eat

bled for a whole day too, but then again maybe I should have rested like I was told to

Bugger, I'm sitting here with my bottom wisdom teeth practically horizontal, one halfway though and the other near the surface. Bottom teeth are starting to cross over Have the dentist next month and will go on the waiting list

Depends on the root formation how difficult it is. I was lucky, mine were easy to extract.

Good luck anyway.

Had a couple of mine out last year, as they were growing horizontally (see below). Was sedated for it, which was pretty odd, but made it bearable. Pain went after a day or two...

How old are you guys?

I'm 24 and only my top wisdom teeth have shown themselves so far, they've come through fine as I had two teeth at the back removed in my teens when I had a brace. The gaps they left have now closed up with the wisdoms sat nicely at the back.

But nothing at the bottom so far, and theres bugger all room in there for em.

A mate had his out under general, when he woke up from the anasthetic a couple of hours later he found a huge bruise on his chest where the dentist had mounted him and used his knee as leverage trying to pull em out!

That's rather young for wisdom teeth.. you sure they were wisdoms

I had my bottom ones out when I was 18 - chose just to have the old injections coz he was a bit hand on chesty. They were unerrupted so he had to use a scalpel to open the gum in an L shape, fold back the flaps then used what I can only describe as a bradle to dig under the teeth and prise them out. they were perfect, so much so that I had them mounted on drop earings and wore them LOL
