Default Misconfigured GPRS = £300 bill

Vodafone phoned me to say that my handset usage was very high - turns out GPRS has been permanently on for two months now. Can I get out of paying? They could have warned me a bit earlier

Dont they only charge you by the amount of data you send though ? Unless you've been viewing web pages then you shouldnt have been transferring any data ?

Id contest it then, or at least ask for details of what/when data was transferred. You would know if you had been using the fone to look at web pages so it sounds strange to get a bill this big.

Especially strange as browsing Vodafone Live! is free. You have to jump through hoops to get on pay sites, not something you're likely to do by accident.

The 'G' GPRS logo was actually on - I've no idea what the phone was doing but I checked the task list and no web browser etc was open. I'll try to contest it

Where you connected via CSD? That means connected as if you're making a call.

I thought that GPRS is only charged by the data going through it? If you've not been using anything that would send data over GPRS I'd be having words!

regards,

greg

Thumbs up

Don't get these problems with PAYG! you're limit is how much you have on the card...

Maybe threaten them with changing to PAYG if they won't back down, say you like their service generally but can't risk that £300 bill again...
