Default Anyone else think that they aren't making the most of life?

I've been feeling like this for the past few years and don't know why.

I have a very good/stressfull/rewarding/occasionally adrenalin packed job, a brilliant wife and the car I always wanted - so why do I feel as though something is missing?

Anyone else ever feel like that? What do you do about it? Reckon it's maybe a lifestyle change, as all I currently do when not at work is surf Scoobynet

Think it's something to do with shift work - I spend a lot of time on my own while the wife is at work - today being a good example. Wife out at 0730, I got up at 10.00, wife in at 16.30, me out to work 17.00

Feel like it all the time, good job, good family, good home, good car etc etc still something missing though, to be honest I think its the fact that theres more to life than doing a routine day which most days are. Would love to pack the job in sell the house and just go for a walk around the world (with flights inbetween obviously) but its all risk taking. you cant do that all your life, need to earn money and its better to settle down early and plan for the future. Im just looking forward til im closer to 40 when theres no more morgage etc and can do what I want

Ever thought of kids?
That would **** things up significantly enough to introduce a bit of variety.
and I suppose there is a bit of purpose there too....

TBH I don't think anybody can tell you what is missing - you're the one that needs to work out what it is.

Sorry it's not very helpful Best of luck though!

You have to take risks i think. Its so easy to just live in the comfort zone.Take some manageable risks and push yourself a bit.

Not exclusively, I enjoy my job, I am happy with my life, the £2k I've helped raise for charity this year has been particularly fulfilling...

Think you MAY be onto something - only problem is zero self confidence. It took me two attempts at qualifying for my job - which has kind of screwed me up (wasn't used to failing at anything prior to that... )

"Self confidence" its a funny thing imo.I dont think people are ever confident before they take risks, you just get to a point where you either do it or you dont.

My attitude to life is i just want to be able to look back and say i did everything i wanted to do and gave it my best shot. You can do no more.

Do a search on Anthony Robbins, read some of his books or listen to his tapes, he'll tell you what's missing.

Seriously my friend, I had the same issues until I read his books, now I realise what was "missing" from my life.

Just a quick update on this (sorry to dredge up really old threads, but been thinking about this for a while).

Had two kids which are great, but didn't stop the feelings.

Grew up around music/playing guitar, so started another band. Was always terrified of playing live. Have now played about 20 pubs and did our first wedding last month. Also took a VERY big risk and got a promotion at work (via a year at Uni) for a job I didn't think I could achieve/pass the exams for...and have.

Now I'm feeling better about myself

Moral is anything is possible

Well done, I was going to say find an absorbing hobby but it looks as though you have with the music.

We take out of life what we put in. All of us have the power to do whatever we want, we just have to have the courage to do something different which can be difficult of course. You only get one life so LIVE IT

TX.

Edit - oh, se that you have done

Great at deluding you into believing you're something your not. We've had the worst experience with people who have been on his courses applying for jobs way above their ability, convincing us they are good enough just because they've been told they are.

Now at the risk of receiving deluding comments... God. But, in all seriousness I know people who have felt something missing, satisfied for a while with new jobs, new car, girlfriend etc but then it doesnt last. Interestingly I cant say the same for people who find God.

When I discovered what Robbins teaches (it is mostly a synthesis of other works such as Bandler) it fundamentally rearranged my life. His philosophy is fairly simple and does not preclude religious belief.

Since doing his courses I now run my own company, earn three times as much as I did five years ago, rarely work full time and have had two kids I swore I would never have.

It works well for some and through Robbins I have seen some people who were in a VERY BAD place find their way forward in life in a way they never thought possible.
