It's in the car that I've just bought, but there was no instruction manual.

Whilst GATSO is obvious, it keeps beeping MEM03, MEM04, MEM05 and K-BAND at me and I don't know what they are.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

MEM03, 04 etc. are user-defined memory locations ie. the last owner must've driven past a camera that wasn't listed on the internal database, and pressed the 'save' key. K-Band is the radar detector, probably detecting an automatic door. Switch off the radar detector, and just keep laser and GPS on.

 

Thanks for replying - if I turn off the radar detector however, will that leave me vulnerable to speed traps (i.e. hand-held devices on bridges, behind bushes etc?)

 

Radar isn't really used by the police anymore. They tend to use handheld laser guns. Since it only takes about a second to get a reading from the laser gun all the laser detector will do is tell you you've been nicked ! Laser scatter is negligible these days.

 

Gatsos still use radar though! The Mems will only come up if you get close to a speed cam location that the previous owner inserted. So worth looking to see if you can see any kind of speedcam device when it comes up on the screen. The K band one will come up for automatic shop door radars.
