Popped into Kwik-Fit to fix a sagging exhaust. Before I was served, there was a guy in front of me who had just purchased a tyre, and had his spare repaired. The Kwik-Fit employee was sorting his bill. Kwik-fit, it seems use a touch screen style computer to carry out transactions.
So, how long would you think it took the Kwik-Fit bloke to do this?????
Answer is - 20 mins and about 300 individual "taps" on the screen. The customer asked why it was taking so long, to which he was answered "god knows, all I want to do is take the money so you can go, I do apologise sir - was so much easier with a normal receipt".
When I paid for my work I had a look at the screen - it asks question after question!!!! To which 99% of the replies are "no" or "n/a".
WHAT IS THE POINT!?!?!? No wonder computers get a bad rap!!
Remember, it's not the computer that's at fault, it's the clueless numpty who set it up.
Frustrating at the time, but can laugh now.

Used to see this all the time when I was in charge of a bunch of developers, they would build nice looking but overly complicted systems that would required answering loads of questions. Solved the problem by sitting them down in front of the users for a while and it was amazing how the improved / simplified the systems when they actually spoke to the users.
