Fancy some terrapins?
Drop me a PM matey - we're getting rid of our little lad's (since he has pretty much abandoned them)
They're kind of like tortoises without the price tag yet come with the ability to swim![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

They are still pretty rare in the uk, you need to go see a breeder, may be hard to find, then there is the care of them, most people think they are vegitarian, well they are acutally omnivore, they will eat the likes of dog food, slugs etc given the chance, cheese also, plus you need to ensure they have somewhere to keep them in winter that isnt too cold so they can hibernate, oh and you would be amazed how much other stuff comes out of one of these little devils, you think it was your dog/cat!!

Please do some research before posting.
Diet for your tortoise is another area where knowing your tortoise species, and its natural habitat is very important.
Mediterranean tortoises are vegetarians, in the wild they scavenge in dry rocky areas where food is not commonly abundant and this has meant that their metabolism has developed to a level where they can convert a very small amount of food into enough energy to sustain them for a long period of time. The food that should be provided in a captive environment should try to replicate their natural diet. It is recommended that they are provided with High Fibre, low protein foods, with a high calcium content and a low potassium Content. Generally we recommend naturally grown dandelion leaves, clover, sow thistle, bindweed and similar plants, harvested from a safe area where no fertilisers, weed killers, or other potential hazards are present.
A list of the best store bought alternatives will be listed later - though it must be pointed out that natural graze is always preferable. Meat, Fish, Eggs and dairy produce should be avoided at all costs with all species of Mediterranean tortoises.
Some tropical tortoises like Hingebacks, and Red Footed tortoises require an element of animal protein in their diets, these tortoises do not generally like to bask, which means they need to get their vitamin D3 from an alternate source.
Again Eggs and dairy produce should be avoided with tropical tortoises.
Some tropical tortoises such as the Sulcata and the Leopard tortoise are designed to absorb even lower levels of protein and are basically grazers, eating mostly grasses. An excess of protein can cause these tortoises massive problems as their bones and shells develop too quickly.
They have been around a long time,it's only our lack of knowledge that is endagering them.
