Eternity Rings???
I've been with my missus for 9 years on 30th of August. We've been engaged for 6 and I'm terrified of the whole marriage/wedding thing. My missus is ver understanding though which is a good thing. She mentioned Eternity rings recently but I know nothing about them or the reasoning behind them. Can someone fill me in? Does the woman just get one as per an engagement ring or do you buy 2 (his'n'hers) as per a wedding ring?

Although a half can be more comfy as the stones dont cut into the skin on the other side when you hold stuff or clentch the fist......and you get bigger rocks in the hlaf that does have them!

Conversely, a half can show more wear (particularly if it's on the same finger as other rings) because it's always the same way round. So if (for example) the stone bit of the engagement ring rubs against it it will cause a notch. With a full eternity, the wear is evenly distributed.
A half has the advantage that it's easy to size if your fingers get bigger or smaller, because the back half's just a gold band. With a full they have to choose the size of stones carefully so that an integer number of stones make up the desired circumference.

So do I buy one just for the missus or do I buy two (one each) as mentioned above?
Also, do I assume that eternity rings have stones in them and are not just gold/silver/white gold bands?

In my case she got an eternity ring instead of an engagement one

"How Long Is An Eternity?
Opinions vary widely as to an appropriate time for the giving and receiving of an eternity ring.
De Beers and the Diamond Promotion Service would have you all believe that the first wedding anniversary is the right time. I suppose it beats paper!
Others believe that the birth of the first child is an appropriate time, and if most men could empathise with their wives over the pain of childbirth, I am sure they would gladly prefer to buy an eternity ring, than to go through the alternative.
We believe it is for the individual couple to decide upon an appropriate time for an eternity ring.
We hear much good-natured banter between couples discussing the fact that a year together seems like an eternity, or that the wife has head to wait an eternity, or some variation on this theme."
So it seems like no one knows, do it if it feels right, and it may the alternative to the marriage thing that will keep you both happy.
