Dunno but it's on the BBC website as well. Don't BA have some issues with food supplies?

That's it, heard on the lunchtime news, there was no food on the flights to Aus and such, people were not happy. Maybe that BA are not prepared to fly without alternatives arranged? Hope it's that and not something more sinister.

Surely a food issue wouldn't ground many BA flights they could sort something out

A food issue wouldn't cause them to ground flights for sure, it will cost them a fortune, a grounded aircraft isn't making any money.

How many people on your average Jet? How many BA flights per day out of Heathrow? It's going to take a bit more than a trip to Tesco for a couple of loaves of bread and a can of luncheon meat to sort that out.

They aren't grounded from what I have seen, just checkin is suspended.

Surely there are commercial suppliers that could be made to work like **** in the event of BA flights grounded

Or take off without food with pre-warned customers?

Maybe Im totally wrong but would have thought anything would be done before they stop flights taking off?

Thats what they were doing, but apparently an unofficial strike has spread to other areas e.g. some baggage handlers etc.

Jeez, i'd go ******* mental if my flight was cancelled due to no catering available ffs!

Short trips, give everyone a bottle of mineral water (I usually carry one when I travel anyway) and a sandwich. Longer trips, same thing but more. Or give peeps vouchers to buy snacks in the airport before they board.

A$$holes.

Edit: Oh, it seems that's exactly what they were doing earlier but more staff walked out in support of the sacked catering workers.

Great.

The BBC News article here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4142408.stm is surely having a laugh?

The catering company's spokesman is called Andy Cook and one of their sacked members of staff is called Kuldip Banger. Is it a requirement to have a food-related surname in order to get employment with them?

Just dropped my bro off at a hotel at Manchester airport and a BA flight was being booked into the hotel. Dunno if it is connected!
