Default Unwanted sales calls

How do I stop them? I get approximately 1 a day now, mainly from 3 or T mobile, keep asking me if I have a mobile and I keep giving them serious abuse down the phone yet they still ring back a day later think they would have got the hint, Im not shy when shouting down the phone at them, i.e. last night I said yes I have a mobile and if I was looking at changing it Id shove it up their ***** and get 1 from another supplier going off the amount of times your ringing me.... Dont think the gal on the other end of the phone was impressed....

Is there a web site or something to register your number as a Dont ring me type thing?

thanks

Telephone Preference Service, you sign up and after 30 days you dont get any calls as the companies are banned.

If they do find out what company they are report to the preference service and they get heavy fines.

Probably not - "telephone preference Service" is separate - do your own google search

The BT one is free to register but then they charge you about £5 or something like that for the caller display etc. Think I read this on their web site when looking into it.

I registered on the http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ and have had no crap calls after the 30 days. Seems to work well and it's free.

There is now no charge for the caller display as long as you still make some calls on a BT line. (Info from FAQ section)

Ask to put them on hold... and just sit there silently laughing as they sit there holding whilst you are still listening to them Or as soon as you realise it's a sales pitch, start off on your own sales pitch about something really stupid - you might need a script but it's worth it

...or ask for their own details, company details, who the directors are, home address etc etc, and when they ask why, tell them 'they are the details that you'd want from me if you're sales pitch is successful, why would you assume that *my* time is is for free???

The "£5 per month" thing may come from a "block callers that withhold their number" option.

If you've ever missed a call, dialled 1471 and got the message "You were called today at 21.32 hours. The caller witheld their number", for your £5 per month these calls get blocked. The caller also gets a message along the lines of "The person you are calling doesn't want to talk to you because they think that anyone who won't give out their number is a devious piece of cack."

It's working for me.

You ask them to explain what it is they are selling then you put the phone down and wander off to do something more meaningful

i used to cold call people when i started in the financial services industry.......so many people would try their wacky little "wind ups". I suppose making £100k pa took a little sting out of it
