recieved payment from soneone today like normal.
after that payapl limit acces to my account saying there has been unusual activity and may account is now limited i cant transfer funds send or recieve payments
i only opened the account a few days ago as so many people use and i thought it a good idea.
they now want a load of personal information to remove the limits on the account. inlcuding a copy of passport/driving lisence
bank account details
credit card details
i am no way sending all that personall information,
i just want the money i am owed
i certainly wont be using them again, ill be using the good old cheque book and bank transfers never had a single problem with my bank ever.
ok rant over
any one on here had problems like this ??
regards

Pretty normal, Paypal want your life story to open an account nowadays.
They just make it easy for you to open the account by not requesting all of this stuff until you come to use it
Its not abnormal for this info to be requested, and to be honest I think it is down to government leglislation that they have to. Remember, Paypal basically acting as a bank account, although they do not pay you interest on positive balances.
I've sent all that info into them in the past, and have not had any issues.

Have you logged directly into your PayPal account to see if it's true? Don't log in from a link.
How did you receive this notification? If through email it's likely a scam.
You normally get prevented from spending over a certain amount before you are verified but that only involves proving a couple of amounts debited from your card.
Before everybody berates a fantastic service it's wise to familiarise yourself with the workings.

Why would you want to send 'your' money back when you clearly say that all you want is your money???
Have you actually tried to move it yourself?
Is this Thursday riddle and you haven't told us?

On a note of you complaining about them wanting to know it is you and not just an email address - i'd like to see you open a bank account without ID...

When you log into paypal if there is a problem with your account there will be a Pink bar about 2cm high across the width of the screen in pink, it should say something like "resoloution centre" i get it every couple of months.

What ever you need to do will be able to be done when you are directly logged in to your paypal account, it may give you instructions to confirm deposits in to your bank account and confirm a transaction on your credit card. Its all quiet standard there are millions of people with paypal accounts that have all done it!

usually you will have been charged £1 to your bank account that will have a registration number against it - you log into paypal, divulge that registration number, they refund you the quid and you get authorised
At least, that's how it used to be.

If it tells you WITHIN the site you need to send ID then you do. If it was in an email, bin it.

I recently moved house and had a mortgage with Alliance & Leicester. Someone on here posted a link to an on-line account with A&L that gave you £50 cash back for joining up. I filled in the application online and recd a letter saying I needed to send in Passport / Driving Licence and Utility Bill. Told them I didn't have a Utility Bill as I had Just Moved - they said that I'd have to wait until I got a Bill.
I pointed out to them that they had just given me the money to buy the ******* house - but no - "We need a Utility Bill" came the robot from the end of the line.
They told me to wait for a Utility Bill - I told them to stick their bank account up their Ar$e.

I opened a new account yesterday. I filled in the form and all was going well until I typed in my employers address in Singapore and their telephone number. The system just would not accept it. I then phoned up said bank and had all the muppets running about but in the end solved the problem by putting in the address of a uk affiliate and telling them someone might phone.
I alos made the msitake of saying i was working in Norway
more greeting and wailing at end of phone. Look, I said, its simple, I live in the UK and I am a UK taxpayer, I work for a company in Singapore and am assigned in Norway.
Heard sound of woman fainting on other end of phone...........

If they have limited your account its an anti fraud measure - all the East Europeans and scammers now use paypal to launder money and use stolen cards, so they have to be extra careful.
There is a phone number on the website you can call, ring them and get them to confirm they need the details, and just fax over a photocopy of your passport.
Paypal are a pain, and their protection for customers is laughable, but you have to go along with them otherwise you'll never get the money out.
I have had various disputes with them over the past couple of years, but they all get sorted eventually, and when it works it is quite a handy way of taking payments ( and laundering the money from my illegal immigrant importation scheme, massage parlours, credit card skimmers and sending payments to my contacts in Columbia when they have a 'delivery' ready for me ).
