he was working down stairs when he heard a loud knocking noise coming from upstairs,he knew there was no one upstairs so thought this was strange.
so him and his colleague went to investigate, went up stairs to find no one there, just as they were going to go down stairs the banging/knocking started again.
I think they were a bit scared so they ran back down

Defo not boiler pipes as boiler doesn't work..........!
Bloody loud banging sound coming from a disused third floor that is completely inaccessable(sp?).
Main buidling is a 200 year old station house that sits right on a railway line in rural staffordshire.
Heard noises before, footsteps across first floor whan ALL my staff where present downstairs.
I've been trying to find out more on tinternet.
Si.

We lived in an old Victorian house. Almost every night you could hear someone going up the stairs to the attic. It was such that you would call out asking who it was, then check and nothing there. Only other thing that happened once to me in the house was that i bumped into someone on the stairs that wasnt there. My mum said she had more experiences than me, but she was in the house more of the time.
All the family heard the noises and experienced more or less the same thing, independent of each other. Only when we had a get together did we realise.![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
However, nothing spooky happened and we called the ghost Mrs Easton as this was the name of the people that originally built the house and we found a photo of them in the attic. The attic had had a photographic workshop in it and was the third floor of the house. My mother kept dogs, but they never seemed to be bothered about anything in the house apart from food.

A recording is where you are seeing something that has happened in the past over and over again. Apparently no "ghosts" are involved. It is like a video playback of an event hence a "recording"
When I was 17, I was driving down the "Rest to be thankful" road in Scotland and going pretty fast in an Austin Maxi that had piston slap.
My passenger was a married lady who I was ahem "seeing". We were on the road with a SD1 Rover which we were attempting to keep up with. After a while the Rover stopped and it was clear the driver was going to have a pee. We carried on down the road running at the side of the mountain. All of a sudden in my rear view mirror I saw a single headlight and dark as it was, clearly was a motorbike due to its position on the road. It sat behind me and I slowed down a bit as it obviously was going to pass. The headlight pulled out to pass the car and wasnt seen again. No motorbike passed, No sparks on the road behind. A few seconds later the Rover came round the corner in the distance behind and i could see as he caught me up nothing on the road. Only option was perhaps that bike had gone over the cliff? I followed the papers for the next fortnight but nothing reported.
Years later I worked with a guy who had been a lorry driver and i mentioned it to him, he said oh yes "The mad motorcyclist" just about every lorry driver that has driven that road has seen this.
I believe that this must also be a "recording" as only explanation I have just now. Wont believe in ghosts until I see one.
