Weight Training - Protein Supplements

Weight Training - Protein Supplements
Being weight training for around 6 months now (running for a few years) and starting to see good shape and i'm much more toned than i was.
i want to get bigger (arms, chest, shoulders) but not stupidly big.
I've heard that taking some Whey Protein is a good way to not only build more muscle but prevent existing muscle breaking down during recover.
Any advice?
Also what is a good Whey Protein variety to buy? Website?
There's tonnes to choose from but not sure what are the monkey products and what are the real deal.
Cheers

hi mate,i"ve been body building/working doors also for 4/5yrs now,the only thing i use is creatine, helps build and repair musle etc...works well for me! in my opinion protien drinks/supplements aren"t nessesary if you eat well anyway such as beans with tuna,eggs/omelettes,baked spuds, pastas, rice chicken etc...why go to the expense of the tubs of protein drinks etc...when you already have it all at home anyway?! BUT!everyone trains different, hope this helps you mate.

the protein does help stop take away aches and pains after a loooong session down ur local gym.
u need to eat enuff chicken, turkey, beef etc. oh and eggs. wot i used to do was eat regularly during the day which helps increase ur matabolism rate. but generally speaking heavy weights means more mass, and lighter weights lead to more tone.
good luck.

lol bros no way im a nerd and def not skinny i was pure muscley big time , i aint been training well for yrs, i stopped training and boxing when my dad passed away may he rest in peace, i lost a part of my soul and their was too much to do like save the family business and home and look after my mum, last thing in your mind is the fecking training haha
i put on a bit of weight then, worst thing about stopping training is the fat u can put on, early this yr i started doing it again, older u get its harder to loose weight so i had to go the clen way, it did it for me but soon as my longer shifts started that went out the window too
i would luv to get back into shape like the olden days

I tend to have a protein bar after a big workout and then chill in the sauna - that way I really don't tend to ache. Started on the L-Carnatine a while ago which helps kick start things when you start training again and want to shift a bit of fat....

Without protein, minerals and vitamins, you would be dead!!! So It follows that humans are supposed to eat these things! Supplements are fine if you train well, sleep well and live well.

The thing is after a workout your body is crying out for protein and it is all very well eating chicken or a steak, whatever but the best way to get protein into your body is in liquid format, amd as soon after your workout as possible.
I really dont think you can get cheaper than these guys http://www.wheyconsortium.co.uk/ i got a huge tub for under 40 quid and you can get 15kg for 100 nicker! although it is unflavoured, just mix it with nesquik,
if you really want to be adventurous chuck some L-Glutamine in!

If you want protein why not eat it naturally. Then again if you want to look like a freak!

the point about taking protein drinks is they are convenient and easier to digest than eating meals all the time, if you've gone as far as you can with a good diet then adding a protein drink isn't a crime you know
