hi steve
We have just bought a complete travel system from mothercare its the mamas and papas pliko p3, the car part of it looks very sturdy and safe, I can only presume it would be similar accross the range. a tad expensive though!
one thing I have learned of late is that you should never buy a second hand one!

When our daughter got too big for the "baby" car seats we had in our cars we bought 2 Graco Rallysport seats.
![](http://www.babyenterprise.com/IMAGES/rallysportmetropolitan_l.jpg)
Has good support and some cup holders to store unwanted chewitt wrappers
Only thing I would say is to get a soft neck support brace when they fall asleep and a seat belt pad so it doesn't rub. In baby seats their head is pretty well supported but when moving to infant seats the child is sat upright so the head isn't as well supported when they fall asleep.
Hope that helps. Try them first, I think our daughter was closer to 3 when we bought them and she only just fitted. The baby seats we had though were unsuitable becuase her legs were hanging out the bottom and very close to the front seats and it just didn't look safe.

From what I've heard the Recaro stuff is OK once they are over a certain age but IIRC they scored pretty low for 2-3.
I was all set on Recaro but a few people said not to bother. Plus the price is a little OTT.

the car seat that is buzzing round europe at the moment excelling all others in the safety tests is the jane indy plus. There is a big backlog in spain apparently.
I am expecting the same thing to happen here when it is safety tested by which or thatcham or someone. Which is why i have ordered 2 allready.
it is the first isofix car seat in this group that is height and mutli width adjustable, if you have a stockist locally go and look at it and compare to the graco britax ect, they are miles ahead.
but of course you need an isofix car.

unless your daufgter is big for 2, you should really keep her in a group 2 seat for as long as possible, having integral straps when smaller is a bonus.
but with the jane indy as it is tiltable you dont have to worry when they fall asleep with pillows ect.

By the way how much are they? And come to that how easy are they to install in a car?
Need to consider whether we get one new car, or one for my car and one for my wifes,. and come to that what about the Childminders car!

£90 so double the graco, but 1/2 the cost (at least) of the recaro.
I still wouldnt put a 2 year old in a seat that uses the car seat belt, 3 years miniumum they should stay in the stage 2 seat. or use something like the britax elite si which has integral straps, but please bear in mind theses are not as adjustable as the indy (3-11 group).
horses for courses.
I will leave my child in the britax duo isofix till he is 3 and then move onto the indy.
what car seat do you have for your daughter now, I fear you may be trying to move up to the next stage to early.
there are overlapps in the car seat market
0-15months (baby carrier style)
0-4 years. (reversable facing)
9 months to 4 years (first stage forward facing with integral straps)
9 months to 11 years (adaptable removable straps generally compromised by not accomadating the full size differences of younger or older children)
3 - 11 years.
and basically it depends how much money you are willing to spend. the best path is
0-15 9 -4 3 -11.
but this means buying 3 seats. you can cut this down to 2 by compromising, every parent i know who did this regretted it.
have a look at http://www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/
they break the groups up nicely a 2 year old should not be put in a 3-11 group seat

Message for Mark,
you emailed me, but spamcop bounced my reply to you.
if you monitor this thread her is the mail.
Hi Mark
Yep I have 2, one in the impreza one in the audi, We tried them at at twoleft feet in bedford they are localish to us, they had red in stock only, we ordered a grey and a blue they took about 4 weeks to arrive.
Basically I can reccomend them in isofix cars, they are very adjustable and can recline. but more difficult to fit then the britax duo isofix just because of the extra width and depth in the seat, So I wouldnt fancy taking it in and out all the time.
We fitted it into my mother in laws car which is non isofix, and because of the reclining back it seemed a bit wobbly as it wasnt secured. So we bought a maxi cosi rodi xp for her car. but if you have isofix go for the Jane.
cheers
Peter
