Spent hours trying to get the little one to sleep last night. Then around midnight 2 Chinook helicopters arrived for the local army base, and hovered over the house for 15 minutes (amazed the car alarm didn't go off - the house was vibrating).
3 am the Scooby alarms starts chirping, then sounds. Never had a false alarm, so jump up to window, reset alarm, can't see anything down there.
6am The wife's Volvo alarm sounds for the 1st time ever. Went down to look around - nothing.
Got a letter this moring from Northallerton Majistrates Court (I live in York) saying they had had a fine of mine transferred to them for £135. Apparantly I was convicted in April 2003 for failing to report the sale of a car. Major crime there.
never heard about this, at the time, and have moved house a few times since. They could have found me anytime from the DVLA database.
Phoned 7 people to query this, and was told to go to Leeds court where I was originally 'convicted' (I thought convictions involved defence, appeals etc, but obviously not) to sign a declaration. went straight from work on the train. Finally found the court, to be told a; I need ID, b; I could do it at any court, including the one half a mile away...
So, got the train home. Good old GNER had scheduled a 2 carriage train, to go to York, in August, on a race day. Genious. And, there was no aircon, and it set off 15 minutes late. People were having to get off to cool down, just to avoid passing out.
Still, there were some luverly ladees on their way to the races...

We live at the army base at Ripon and our house is right next to the camp where chinooks, apache's etc all land, yes it's annoying but it's a thing that you get used to, buy some ear plugs in the months when there are alot of excerises and tours as you get no peace at all with all the comings and goings at god knows what hour!!! The trucks and tanks are just as bad mind!!
