Default DVD problen - fires up from standby after being switched off

Bought a philips dvp 3005 from asda the other day, Plays everything, has progressive scan, etc...

Seems the have a strange problem in that after switching it off (panel on front of player) it switches off...only to fire up again after a minute or so. Really annoying as whatever I'm watching is replaced by the dvd loading screen on the player (even when there's no disc in it)

Anyone know why this is ? I've been and exchanged the player for another one and I get the same problem.

Here's 2 solutions.

1. Don't turn it off
2. Turn off at plug

HTH,

Scott.

Is there some kinda timed standby mode?does seem strange and i bet its annoying too..if i couldnt sort i personally would send it back and get another model altogether.Could be an anomoly to this model, although i cant see the point in such a feature.

MarkV, tried what you said and you've cracked it. Apparently its a known fault in the firmware. Fortunately they give instructions as to how to download an update and burn to a CD-R

The problem is now fixed - THANKS!
