New Labour has the answer to affordable housing.
Having allowed house prices to spiral beyond the reach of first time buyers nationwide, our wonderful government has the solution:
Let them live in mobile homes, creating our very own generation of UK Trailor Trash.

Nice initiative boys

it was not to long ago they were talking about building housing complexes out of old ISO containers. apparently there are millions of them all over the world so would make ideal houses.
Woudn't like to be in one when it is bucketing down though the noise would be horrendous and can you imagine if it got hit by lightning

Great - no doubt they'll be sending them on a course to identify roofing / driveway problems and give them "Certified Pikey" Certificates (Which will allow them to dump their trailers and set up a commune anywhere they like).

Cheap housing everywhere.
Englands "scum rating" will further increase, even whe we thought it couldn't get any worse!!!
I remember these "initiatives" in my town, nice, affordable housing, green park land etc etc.....25 years later you wouldn't walk down there during the day let alone at night!!!

what they should do is take all the job seeker layabouts and put them in the trailers instead of the first time buyers. Let the people who are prepared to work live in the council houses that the scum are getting for free.
Or...
if we don't want our countryside littered with skronks!...just in-humanely kill them. Problem solved....everyone's happy!

A good old fashioned crash is what is needed to bring some sanity back to property prices in this country.
Or to use the modern estate agent spin/terminology - a massive 'realignment'.

Scoonynetters in overreaction SHOCKER !
Did anyone actually read the article linked?
So it is not policy and there is nothing to say it will become policy. It's a story started by the "park home" industry. Ever feel like you're getting spun?
"at the moment, park homes are not included in the government's definition of "affordable housing" and were not mentioned in its five-year housing plan"
A spokesman for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) said: "We are not looking at this specifically as an alternative to getting people on to the property ladder."
The park home industry is currently lobbying the government to change its planning guidance to allow more sites.
Whether the government believes park homes can seriously add to the supply of low cost housing will probably not be known until March next year, when its Affordable Rural Housing Commission produces its first report.

Ah, but don't forget the key message:
and this little gem:
LMAO at the spin. 'Park homes' indeed!! Don't you mean trailors??
A spokesman for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) said: "We are not looking at this specifically as an alternative to getting people on to the property ladder."
But he said that could change if the number of sites increases and they "start to become a major factor".

housing minister Yvette Cooper said park homes "do need to be recognised as having an important role in housing provision".
She told delegates: "Park homes are an opportunity to promote diversity in housing choice, to help enhance the environment.

Joan Clark, director general of the BH&HPA, says the standard of homes on British sites are a "million miles away" from US trailer parks.
"It is not the same product. It is also nothing like gypsy or traveller sites, not that there is anything wrong with those."
Yeah right

A brilliant and well thought out strategy from NL
Labour can call these houses what they like but do not forget. If it looks like ****e and it smells like ****e chances are it is ****e.
I doubt very muchg if Bliar, his family or an other of the cabinate or thier offspring will ever have to live in them so as they say in NL circles F**k you Jack i am all right.
Congratulations
My thanks to all those Labour supporters out there.
