Default Parking sensors kits - any good ?

After reversing my scoob into a wall this week, i decided i need to fit some parking sensors, but i dont want the ugly sesnors sticking though the bumper, so i have found a parking sesnor kit that you can stick behind your bumper.

It cost's a about twice as much as the normal stick through type, has anyone here used a similar system

here's the site i found them on. they use electromagnetic waves instead of ultrasonic.

Fit a tow bar, that hits first so avoiding any damage to your car. Added bonus that if somebody pi$$es you off you can make a right mess of their car without putting a mark on yours

I was walking past Halfrauds the otehr day, and they've got a promotion for parking sensors.

I have to admit thinking "Just learn to fukcing drive properly" - sure accidents do happen, but an overall awareness of your driving environment should be a basic skill. Just take more care!!!

You can get ones that sit either side of the license plate as well, I saw some on a car the other day and they looked pretty good.

I have these , and they are very good , All this learn to drive is just rubbish , we all have lapse's in concentration now and again especially after a 12 hour night shift and your trying to get the car down the drive at 5 in the morining

parking sensors have nothing to do with "learn to drive"......i can drive my car within 3 inches of an obsticle knowing 100% that i am not going to touch it - you simply cant do that in a car without sensors.

so if you have sensors you can drive BETTER than those without them.

Im sorry, but all these people relying on the sensors to help them park. I mean if you actually look over your shoulder you'll probably see a spoiler. As long as the walls not touching it. You're probably fine

I wonder how you'd manage if you had to drive a car without them, or the ones on your car failed?

Probably sue the manufacturers for the repairs in this "no win no fee" environment.

I dont rely on them , but they help me park safetly , simple as that , I drive an A4 with no spoiler and you can't see where the boot come's to an end
Been driving 25 years and not to proud to have al the help I can get

There is also the scenario where somebody walks behind you when reversing into a parking bay in a carpark ,could be a young child lower than the boot

I'm sorry, but if you're trying park in a place that tight, IMHO, you're parking into the wrong place. Simple as that. Park somehwere else.

The arguement that it helps when you've done a long shift - if you're that tired, you shouldn't be on the road.

To be fair, if you're that tired you might back into summat, you really shouldn't drive at all, however far it is....it's not just your life / car

kbsub - no, you're right. At that time in the morning you can't (get public transport or walk that distance). I've done the same thing. I think my post was taken too literally, rather than as a general observation.

There's a BIG difference between driving home after a long shift @ stupi o'clock in the morning, and being that tired you need to use parking sensors as a driving aid.....

This is was I was getting at - the two can't really be compared.

simple example for people more in need of brain sensor than parking:

im pulling into a gap, my front wing is close to the car next to the gap.......i estimate i will prob miss by 0-3 inches - they have a sticking out bumper design thats out of my view so hard to tell.

if you have no sensors at estimate the gap at 0-3 do you go for it and hope its not 0 or do you back up and give yourself more room? i suggest you back up.......meanwhile i switch on my sensor and discover i have 2 inches.

you parked in two goes and took longer than me......whos the better driver? you cant tell......who needed two goes to park? You.

yep...you win - you have a car with **** paint and so park miles away from where you want to be.....i must be mad to have sensors when i could have cheap paint and a walk instead.

now now there's no need to be ar$ey Just because I have a different and TBH intolerant (by my own admission) view of people who use these stupid things.

FYI, my car has very good paint I don't need to drive miles to park, but I refuse to park my car in a gap where once I'm in, the numpties who've parked all around me (probably with their bl00dy parking sensors!! ) will damage the car getting out (as most people tend to use this white elephant to get into a space, but not out).....

I don't give a t0ss what you or anybody else thinks TBH. My mind wont be changed on this, and I'll continue to have a good condition car without the need for stupid gimmicks.

FFS I can't believe people are slagging these off, and saying "you shouldn't need them, you should have good spacial awareness" blah blah blah.

I don't have them and I don't want them - but just because someone has them and uses them it doesn't mean to say that they are bad drivers .

So I take it you don't use your wing mirrors when driving then?

so you are intolerant of people that park where you dont want to/cant.

also....my example didnt mention a tight space simply a tight gap when swinging in to the space....once in there could be room galore.

you have confused parking sensors with "i want to get in a tight gap" which they are no good for unless you fit them to doors!

in fact...i cant be bothered to say anymore as im intolerant of muppets.
