How to REALLY bring fuel prices down
Power to the people i say.
Got an email from a mate a couple of weeks ago and it basically comes down to us demanding the cost of fuel as customers, and not just being told what to pay by the oil companies.
It goes like this,
Boycott purchasing ANY fuel from ANYWHERE for 6 months for cars/trains/planes/buses/lorries.
If everyone tells 10 people about this then this time next week 3 million people will be not purchasing ANY fuel whatsoever.
Any thoughts if this might work?

Well considering that over 80% of the cost of fuel in this country goes directly to the exchequer, and the rest of the recent price increases are a direct result of George & Toni's little jolly in the Middle East, I think blaming the oil companies is a bit rich meself

Ive got a better idea. Sell your imprezas and buy something that uses less fuel, you'll be filling up the tanks less hence a drop in sales and worried sales men with profits dropping....
Starting to get boring now all these fuel debates... Unless we really do have a boycott like a few years back nothing will change.

Public transport duel duty is 1/10, and private tranport fuel duty is 10x

What, like things changed as a result of the last one...??
Apart from Billy Punter thinking he had a short-term moral victory of course...

Govt gets reduced income from fuel.
Govt has to get money from somewhere to fill gap.
Govt get money to fill that hole from you in another way.
ok? You need to look at the WHOLE taxation picture. Few seldom do.

I really never understood it. Motorists being happy to self-inflict hardship on themselves. Wanting cheaper fuel but queueing all day and all night for when it eventually arrived, and willing to pay ANY price. It was a farce from start to finish.

The recent spike was initiated by the death of King Fahd. Supply issues from Africa etc spiked it up a bit more, a wee fire in a US refinery....don't see Iraq figuring in that news.
...and to prove a point, there was an attack on an Iraq pipeline today, and crude futures are DOWN as a result

It was the "I'm alright jack" syndrome at work. Everyone liked the idea, but relied on everyone else to execute it. Loonies.
